Favorite Little Wing Performence

#1 Post by Jay3 » Mon Aug 08, 2005 8:21 am

Like I always say, this isn't the best little wing performence, just what one
did you like the best? They're all great I have Van Halen doing it, Sammy sings, Jimi's, Stevies and Vai's.

I said Hendrix because you left out the best one: Steve Lukather. Listen to his version (live) and tell me what you think.

There are also some other good versions: Eric Clapton, Skid Row, Metallica, and Pantera!? (could be fake).

It is definitely one of my favorite songs, nonetheless.

P.S.
I think that Van Halen one is a fake....

I mean "fake" as in it is not Van Halen doing it. I've seen it on the internet a lot, but it just doesn't sound like Eddie when you listen to it. The solo is bluesy, the texture in the intro is clean, etc.

I don't know, maybe you have a different version than I do.

Even if it is funny to watch G3 I always prefer the original or a live
version played by Hendrix himself.

Another nice version in a little more fusion style is the
Sting version from Nothing Like The Sun album.
The two solos in that verison is some of my all time favourite solos.
Played by Hiram Bullock if i remember his name correct.

The original is magical, that's why it's been covered so much.

Yeah i hear alot of good stuff about the SRV version but when it comes to it, its just the same song played about twice without the 'edge'. DOn't see what the fuss is about to be honest. vais because of how the legato follows the chords.

I know that (live) version....

I've got it too....

It's the best...

It somehow is some sort of tribute to himself....(well that's how I see it)

SO beautiful...

SO sad... (somehow)
