I'm torn between either Shawn Lane or Allan Holdsworth. Yes, they're both hardly known in comparison to Vai, but IMO they're the two best guitarists that I've ever heard.

Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Blackmore's Night) is my favourite guitarist ever, and imo the best.

My other favs/guitarists who I listen the most are (in no particular order):
Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai, Steve Morse, Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Tony Iommi, John Petrucci, Randy Rhoads and Yngwie Malmsteen
