i thought they went through a lot more than that?? I read a bunch of CD reviews, and it seemed like every album they had a different keyboardist...

As much as I love Dream Theater, I can honestly say it's nearly impossible to listen to Images and Words because of the production and mixing, especially on the drums. The songs are great, the performances are great, but ...that snare sound!!! The new albums are just as good musically as any of DTs other stuff, but they SOUND so much better. SFAM is amazing. The only way I can listen to the Images and Words stuff is by watching their Live in Japan video because the mixing and effects are bearable by my ears.

Heh, enough complaining from me.

i'd say get them all, i have one cd with all their mp3s , all albums...hell yeah!!!! :!:

images and words is connected to scenes from a memory. so i suggest you get it, and listen to it first AND THEN listen to scenes from a memory.

scenes from newyork is an awesome live concert!! a must have!

awake, old stuff, but sooooo heavy! yeah...

change of seasons is as great as those too...very progressive!!!!

6degrees, is a bit different, i don't think you have to get it now...keep it for later...

enjoy

Falling Into Infinity = pure ownage.
It's my favorite. Pretty much the only one that doesn't sound like they're trying to prove how badass they are (note: I'm a die hard DT fan).

I got SFAM first and I loved it heaps.
Then I got Awake and Images And Words and thought they sucked compared to SFAM... But then I got into them more and now i like them more.

I think I might get 6 degrees next or maybe ...

Is A change of seasons just a song or is it an album...

Can someone write out all of the DT cds for me (and release dates?)
thx

I'm really into A change of seasons now, its really amazing.
But if you really liked the sound of SFAM,
you might want to listen to Awake or 6 degrees.
All their albums are great, but the sounds on the 1st 2 records are really different from SFAM.
But great anyway, I didn't like the 1st singer though :)

Hi All You DT fans,

It seems like Awake (1994) and Images And Words (1992) get the most votes. Does Derek Sherinian play on these albums? If not what is the best Dream Theater album that Derek plays on?

Thanks in advance.
