Steve Vai's favorite piece of muisc...

#1 Post by guitarmattms » Sat Nov 03, 2012 7:43 pm

Hi,

I attended the EVO experience at the St. Louis show in September. Someone asked Steve what his favorite piece of music was and he responded with a orchestra piece no doubt but which piece I can't remember. Anyone on here might know? I think it was something along the lines of Atmospheres or something similar.

I also remember him saying something along the lines that he found it to be the most terrifying piece.

Thanks!

I don't know.

But here is a list of 10 favorite guitar instrumentals:

If I remember right Steve has also said he likes the orchestral concert composition
named "The Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky.

And I remeber Steve was excited about his meeting with the
well known american composer Elliott Carter.

I don't know but again I maybe can see some Zappa - Vai parallels/similarities.
I read Frank Zappa got to known and meet the Norwegian modern classical music composer
Arne Nordheim. It can be very interesting with this "stange/odd" modern music.
I really like this composition "Partita fur Paul" by Arne Nordheim.
Also the performance is excellent I think:

Music is a real beauty.

I remember on one of the previous tour's Evo experiences, Steve mentioned he ALWAYS had the complete works of Stravinksy on his ipod!
