Shankar cd

#1 Post by deckard12 » Fri Nov 02, 2012 1:52 am

I remember reading some years ago, Steve was involved in a project called Shankar

Please does anyone know if this was anything to do with Ravi Shankar, and whether it is available on cd?

I don't know about Ravi, but in the 80's Steve did a collaboration with the indian violin player L. Shankar on an album called "The Epidemics". You can read his thoughts here: http://www.vai.com/discnotes_epidemics/

He then contributed on the track "Out of My Mind" off the Shankar & Gingger – “One In A Million” album, in 2003.

Last time I checked, both these releases were on iTunes and Amazon.

I had that CD once, there are a few wha-wha-ish solos, but I rememer the songs and the lyrics being surprisingly, er, NAIVE. Especially Shankars singing is so, er, not good that it's kind of funny. I have the highest respect for all the players on the album, but I think it was some sort of a failed atempt at a pop record. I'd skip that one.
