I hated it the first time, now I absolutely LOVE it!!!

With songs 3-5 I first thought he can´t be serious, especially creamsicle sunset sounded like a beginner practicing some chords :D. But well, the other two songs are extremely catchy I´m singing them in my head all day :D. Still, not really what I think of when I buy a Vai-Album. But I enjoy it anyway....

I´m missing some tracks like Freak Show Excess and some extravagant phrased playing like he used to do (and if it´s just the beginning lick of building the church....), I think that´s what Steve Vai is about a lot. A little bit more focus on guitar, a little less focus on story and the trilogy will have a great end (for me). I really like the idea of songs like Under it All and The Story o Light...

Oh, how could I forget...No more Amsterdam is the absolutely best song on this album!!!! So nice and coherent, absolutely amazing!!!

"I'm down here"

I sense a significance of the quote "I'm down here." Listen to "Under It All" from the last record, right after 0:18. Now listen at the end of "Mullach a' Tsi" and at 2:00 on "No More Amsterdam." I love Steve's whisper, and I forgot to ask him about "I'm down here" at EVO!

Loved The Story of Light first time I heard it. This album doesn't need "to grow on me." It is a fantastic work that helps to define the continuum of Steve's artistic evolution. Velorum is simply mind-blowing. hope to hear it at the Anaheim show tomorrow!

My favourite tracks are
- Racing The World (My no. 1, nice melody, tempo, solo and a happy song)
- Velorum (My no. 2, nice melody, break, solo)
- Weeping China Doll (nice melody. A bit slow in tempo maybe...)
- No More Amsterdam (nice melody, singing and playing)

Some of the other songs are also ok, but after near a month listening
the songs above are the ones I always comes back to.

A good melody, is the real treasure in music.
If there ain't no strong melody, the composition can still be interesting but
also can fast get boring.
"A good melody..." - a lot about personal taste of course.
"Personal taste..." - comes from the laws of the Universe

Thanks for coming to Norway again this tour Steve!

It's a work of art, probably his most 'Liberated' release so far. The production is just stunning, impeccable genius. With so many rich layers and dense harmonic constructions.... and not a single note... or frequency out of place.

It took a few listens to really dig in and appreciate the many aspects... and it is still evolving in my humble perception.

And the Artwork colour scheme makes it a perfect Christmas present! :D :D :D

Another treasure for the world. :peace

I think it's a great disc! I wish I could have attended a show or two from the tour. Hopefully a DVD/CD from the tour is in the works.

It's been almost a year, but I relisten tracks from this album pretty much everyday. Though TSoL is extremely enjoyable to me as a whole, my favorite tracks presumably would be Velorum, Gravity Storm, Mullach a'tSi and The Moon And I. Hopefully, next album would be released sooner than in 6-7 years, but his music must be taking a lot of time to compose and record.
Good luck to Steve!

Its hard for me to say, but I don't like all of the songs/music on this record.
But I do like Creamsicle Sunset, Gravity Storm, Mullach a' tSí, Racing the World
and Sunshine Electric Raindrops. Those are my favorites.
