If the rate that the letters of the title of the new album are revealed is any guide (1 letter/month), it looks like that's about 8 months left before the title is fully revealed, that would mean the album could be released around spring 2012....but this is just speculation, of course....

So, no new album until sometime in "early" 2012.

That's what Steve says on his latest video update.

He said that what started as a very simple album, has now gotten more complex. So he hasn't finished the album, until the end of this year when he's done with the upcoming orchestra piece, and guitar master classes.

He's targeting early next year for the release and world tour.

Wow, it sure is taking long....seems like spring 2012 at the earliest...but I'd say summer 2012 is more likely...

Steve seems to be putting a lot of effort into giving himself to others, this is a good thing.

I can understand impatience but Steve owes us nothing, if anything most of us here owe our entire approach to the guitar to him and his vision.

Every album released and every show done is a bonus, hell having a stack of CD's/DVD's (and now the odd Blu Ray) shows that Steve has given us what I would guess is a massive part of himself.

Watching the Randy Rhoads/Ozzy Osbourne doco last night really highlighted the fact that life is a fleeting thing and you have to do what you want when you feel you want to, not just because some crazy people (read: Vai fans >.>) expect it of you.

Think economy . . . we're in a depression . . would you want to launch a CD and a very expensive tour at the moment? Me neither.

I'll gladly settle for just the cd at the moment...Steve has his group of diehard fans that'll buy whatever he releases...I doubt he's waiting for the general sales to pick up:)

I believe Steve also has a private life, he can't always be playing guitar or composing.
So sometimes plans and work must take longer time then first predicted.
And Steve would never release anything he ain't 100% finsihed with so let's just wait
and see.

I just have some happy time listening to songs from Alive In An Ultra World just now.
Some nice songs with lot's of live and improvisations feel/playing.
I wonder how much is "written" and how much is improvisation in these songs?

Oh... a few week ago I had a funny dream about Steve Vai again... been some years since
last time. I am not that strange!
Ok the short story:
Steve Vai was going to play at a big festival in Germany. It was at the Octoberfest (The Beer festival).
It was a big audience around 30.000. But Steve did not know what the Octoberfest was
really about. So I said something like -maybe you should play some well known German oompah songs too.
Steve did not understand why... I also said, -it would be best to have at least 30 feets between the stage and
the front row of the audience. There might come some flying beer mugs...

Ok enough silly talk. Happy playing!
