ok there is written

"Prior to the concert there will be a free introductory talk at 7.00 pm. Please reserve by phoning +31 50 368 03 68."

does it mean we all should be there at 7.00pm. what about this reserving-hotline ? what do we reserve? I have my tickets and there is no seat number on it. so what could I reserve then?

Don't worry about it. Athough this Vai Festival seems unique, here in Groningen it's not. We have a Vai Festival every year :headbang . Ah, just wishing.

But on a serious note, the Noord Nederlands Orkest (Northern Dutch Orchestra) holds a composer festival every year. It's common to do an introductory talk about the composer before the main event. It's just someone telling about the music of the composer. If I remember correctly, this introductory talk is held in another hall (think lecture hall) inside De Oosterpoort. This place is much smaller than the hall where the event takes place, since lots of people are not interested in this. That's why you have to reserve. They have to know what the size of the room must be.

The chance of Steve Vai attending is very, very, very small. Excuse the bad English, I'm on a time limit.

You can buy the tickets before the event. I think you can take the risk of doing this, but if you want to be sure you'll be there, better preorder. Dutch people don't seem to preorder big time. If you check the site of De Oosterpoort you'll see that almost all concerts are not sold out. Lot's of people get the ticket on the same evening. Big events do sell out quickly though. I don't think the radio show, the movie and the Naked Track contest are one of them.

Like R1FSR said, there's a train going straight from Schiphol to Groningen. Also from Amsterdam. Schiphol and Amsterdam are 2 different stations. You can check the schedule in English here: http://ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Hi folks!!!
Finally my tickets arrived, after an adventure if being returned.
Hotel booked, flights booked too.
Concerning the train directions, there are also some ones who doesn't pass by Amsterdam if you are going by south, like me. My option would be passing by Utrecth and take a boat ride around, if the weather permits 8)
