I've just watched the Jemini pedal video and LMAO!!!
It's so funny - Especially when he calls himself a wanker!!!
Just curious now, does "wanker" have the same meaning in the US as in the UK??

Steve & Steve, what a great duo - Excellent music & comedy all under one roof!!!

That was great to come to today!!! Cheers Steve! :D :D :D

Steve actually speaks quite a lot about wanking...
his track "When I was a little boy" well... I often take that as a story about it

A few years ago he said in an interview for the dutch magazine "Gitarist":

quote Steve Vai:
"Often people see me playing the guitar and ask the question to themselve:

That wanker from the 80's.... is he still playing the guitar??!!?"

This was a pretty damn funny video and one of the coolest I've seen in a while.

Good stuff to Steve and all involved.

I got the impression he was playing with the words different connotations either side of the Atlantic :D

Just checking: Meaning either someone showing off, or "playing" with his "thing"?

Funny, because the same word in french has both meanings!

As per usual, Steve takes an idea (a demo) and just makes it so much better  Excellent stuff.

The left-hand side really does nail that think, middley Vai sound, doesn't it? The 'clean' channel section at 5:15, clearly isn't clean-its heavily laden with chorus or detune or something similar so I guess it won't sound quite as full and ballsy in reality.

I've always assumed the "Peach fuzz" song was about wanking (It still makes me laugh!!)

Now that you mention that interview "Instrumentalrockrocks", I remember reading\hearing steve say that somewhere...

Now I'm thinking about a section in "The real Frank Zappa" book, which talks about rock guitarists and "Guitar masturbating", moving up the neck and repeating the last few notes as they squirt "guitar jizz" over the audience (Really funny book if you haven't read!!!)

I hear ya BBB - I cannot recall a gear demo that has made me laugh out loud!! Love it!!!

I just wanted to add that the video is highly entertaining, and very funny.

But does it sell the pedal well enough? not too sure.

I would have liked to see different settings, and first his carvin high gain settings.

And I also hear chorus and delay on the left side, that's ok but Steve could have said it. To me a chorused distortion sound very different than a straight one in any context.

And tough luck, it appears on the market as the same time as another famous guitarist's which (according to detailed youtube reviews) seems to have a much wider range of sounds.

I'll definitely try it if appears in my local shop though.

To be fair the review in Guitarist UK suggested that the Jemini was for those looking for a very close approximation of Steve's guitar sound rather than one that produces many different sounds so i don't think Jemini and the other you don't mention (Satchurator perhaps) are competeing for the same market. I have to say, I'm quite tempted to get one-never thought I'd say that about a distortion pedal!

Well, the Satchurator is marketed as "Joe's sound in a box", and after purchasing the pedal I can say that claim is true so they are definitely competing for the same market. The Satchurator may appeal to a wider audience, however, because it's tonal options are greater for those who don't necessarily want to sound like Joe...

The entire thing was hilarious. The best part was where Steve was like "Screw you" and then other Steve says "You wish." and they both sit there and think about that.

Pedal looks like good stuff, but right now I'm at my full capacity for gear.
