Regarding the Aftershow Pass

#1 Post by Becker Ola » Tue Jul 03, 2007 2:01 pm

For those of us who received the free after show pass in our Sound Theories pack, what exactly does this meet and greet entail? Is it just us simply going backstage and saying a quick hello to Steve and the crew or is this more in-depth? I was actually kind of wondering if we'd be allowed to take pictures or if we could have them sign something. Does anyone know? Perhaps Mikey or someone else in the know? Thanks.

There is absolutely NO backstage access with the aftershow pass.

If you have an aftertshow pass, wait by the stage after the show.

Security will take you to a designated area for the meet and greet - or you may stay in the auditorium to meet Steve and the band there.

If you have an item that you wish Steve to sign, that's okay, but please - don't bring your entire collection. It's okay if you wish to take a photo with Steve too.

All the meet and greets I have been to involved Steve coming out and taking pics, signing autographs, talking to everyone etc. Usually lasts about a half hour to an hour. Depends on what is going on and if Steve has to leave. I always enjoy it.

I didnt realise Steve came back into the auditorium after shows to sign and take photos. Can anyone stay behind or do we have to have a special pass?

order one of the special edition digipack versions of the new album off vai.com store, some of them come with an aftershow ticket (and hope you're lucky enough to get one of those)

Hey, what if on my venue ticket it says no cameras allowed (Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC) but I want a picture with Steve (I have a satin pass) after the show? Do you think if i had a camera with me after the show security would take it away from me after the picture? Im thinking about hiding the camera in between my buttocks but I am just wondering if the Vai crew has notified security at these places that he is accepting photo opportunities with the fans who have the satin pass. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i guess the pass is for just one person, right?

winner+guest would've been awesome, 'cause it'd have made things like scheduling the drive back from the show, etc a lot lot easier. as it stands, the larger group of friends (including a significant other) would have to wait for a number of hours after the show so that one person (me) could hang out for the aftershow. if one is to split up the group, then it still leaves me inside and the sig-o outside waiting for a few hours.

not really complaining, 'cause i get to meet steve again - but it'd have been so much cooler otherwise...

But then the people that needed winner + 2 would be pissed....
It's just easier to do it like this, and the most fair.
1 CD, 1 pass, one person.

I don't think the aftershows generally last that long. Tell the rest of your group to bring a deck of cards or something. They'll understand since you have a rare opportunity to say hey to an artist and band that you admire so much.

Hey guys, thanks so much for all the input. But, I think that Vaism brings up a good point, the Royal Oak show in Detroit doesn't allow any cameras either. I'd love to get a few pictures with the band, but, not if I have to hide a camera in a most uncomfortable place for the duration of the show.

ltlgrnman: oh, trust me, they do take a while - either way, though, i still have no need to talk down to my friends (or sig-o) in quite the way you're suggesting. I'm really not shit talking here in any case. *shrug*

RAII understand the simplicity of how it's played out here, and I really have no problem with it at the end of the day, but I see no problem with making the observation. Typically, (as vai.com has done in the past), it's 'winner'+1 for reasons very much like this.

I have no desire to make an issue of it, just asking the question, y'alls :)
