Here's my breakdown of Steve's albums:

1. "Flex-Able"

Not too huge on this one; really it's of experimental nature to me, save for "The Attitude Song."

2. "Passion and Warfare"

Out of all of the 80's guitar shred albums, this dominates. With tracks like "Liberty," "The Animal," "Answers," "For the Love of God," and "I Would Love To," who could argue? However, even though I do like the album, I think it's the most overrated amongst his fans. It's great, but definitely not his best.

3. "Sex and Religion"

Normally I would say this is my least favorite, but it's actually grown on me. I've always been amazed by the track "Down Deep into the Pain," but tracks like "Here & Now" and "Survive" have really grown on me.

4. "Alien Love Secrets"

Definitely up there; this album is amazing. This album contains two of his top ten songs in my opinion; "Bad Horsie" and the amazing "Boy From Seattle."

5. "Fire Garden"

Without a doubt his best album. It's the best mix of vocal and instrumental pieces. "Fire Garden Suite" is enough to vote this album the best alone.

6. "The Ultra Zone"

A little weak in my opinion. There are some standouts, though; "Frank," "I'll Be Around," "Lucky Charms," and "Here I Am."

7. "Alive in an Ultra World"

This is tied for his best album; I tend to favor it more than Fire Garden at most times. This is one of the best concept albums out there, and it contains his best song: "Whispering a Prayer."

8. "Real Illusions: Reflections"

Definitely a great album overall. There's only one bad song, and that's "Yai Yai," but that's more filler than an actual song.

9. "Sound Theories"

Amazing music. Not as bold as "Alive" was, but it's definitely a bold album.

So, my rankings would go like this:

1. TIE: "Alive in an Ultra World" and "Fire Garden"
2. "Sound Theories Vol. 1 and 2"
3. "Real Illusions: Reflections"
4. "Alien Love Secrets"
5. "Passion and Warfare"
6. "Sex and Religion"
7. "The Ultra Zone"
8. "Flex-Able"

I would have to say Flex-Able is my least favorite.

He's definitely improved since then.

I find Steve's music no different to other artists I like in that at least 50% of all their tracks are just album padding.
I was hoping with the coming of the mp3 age we would get away from the "album mindset" that says a release must have at least 10 tracks on it.

Yeah, for me if an album has four good songs on it, I consider it a success! Kind of sad I guess, but that's the average.

Yeah I agree, I lift about 2-4 songs off each album to put on my phone or mp3 player in the van.
