If you order online, especially from smaller stores, you have a really good chance of getting the shizzle before the relizzle.

Welcome to the forums, hamordude :!: Glad to see I wasn't the only one with certain opinions of the DVD (not being able to hear Joe, etc.) And as to the last guy's question: Did you pre-order the DVD from Sonymusicstore.com? Usually when you order directly from the publisher, they go out of their way to get it to you on time, if not early. Everyone else, ENJOY!!!

Just out of curiousity, will most major stores in britain have it on the release day like with real illusions? Cause I phoned round a few places and there weren't any due to arrive and that it was an american special order.

Simple review:

Petrucci: Only two songs, which was bad, but these G3 DVD's always have something like this for no reason. Great song selection though, and his playing is just superb. Glasgow Kiss is a great tune, fun to watch.

Vai: The guy is other-worldly. I love the choices for the three songs, and he has so much fun on stage it's awesome to watch. I think his technique is better than it's ever been, and the "Upanishads" technique he uses in Building The Church is just sick. Intro to K'm Pee Du Wee is great as well, and seeing The Audience is Listening is long overdue. I love the fact that Steve has gotten into jamming with Billy during some of his songs now, those two are just rockstars/showmen personified.

Satriani: I love his playing on this DVD, he is more laid back and energetic than previous ones, which I think makes for a more entertaining show. Good song choice, Searching just has that groove that makes you want to watch it over and over.

Jam: Classic tunes, which I thought would make them boring to watch, but these 3 guys are just too good. Not really much more to say.

Overall: The sound and video are unbelievable in this DVD, by far better than the others. The only thing that's left is for Sony to give in and put each set in its entirety on there, but (as we know) that probably isn't going to happen anytime soon. 4 of 5 stars for this one.

My Personal Highlight: Building The Church solo

Yeah I Preordered the DVD on SonyMusicStore.com and they were wonderful... I recieved a conformation E-mail saying it was shipped on the 20th! And it came in on Saturday the 23rd... I was phsyched. Anytime I want to pick-up an important Vai DVD or CD I'm definitely going back to them... Unbeatable service! :)

I received my copy in the mail this AM. I watched it a few times this evening. I don't have anything to say but...

At the risk of sounding like a shill... if you haven't already received/ordered your copy, you're missing out!

The bonus commentary is great! I always love seeing the crew backstage in a more relaxed atmosphere. The commentary by the G's is excellent also! Highly, highly recommend!!!

BTW - MY PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT

..::K'm pee du wee::..

Anyone in the UK got their hands on it yet?

I'd order it if I knew ONE place where I could get it.

Yeeeaaahh! I got my copy! (about 3 hours before, around 7pm 25th Oct. Tokyo time)
I can't find my words except AWESOME! :D

John:
When I sat on my seat and listened to his songs at the venue,
I'm sorry I was half asleep during his part...
(I was more amazed at Portnoy's drumming than John... )
But watching his part of this DVD, his performances seem so cool!
Glasgow kiss is so beautiful! Watching his part I felt his intelligence...

Steve:
Yai! :D
Watching Steve's part again on this DVD, Steve actually showed us his passion!
I put my review of this show on concert reviews thread
that K'm Pee Du Wee of this show was awesome.
My impression wasn't wrong, I still love this K'm Pee Du Wee!
I remembered this intro was really beautiful... :o
(...How short Steve's part is...! :x)

Joe:
His perfect technique and beautiful songs amazed me on this DVD again!
BTW, during he played War by red body JS, a string was cut!
So he changed to black one...this was a rare experience
to watch he played it again for this DVD...

Jam
Wooww...!!! :D
This part was really enjoyable...!
There was no Japanese at the venue who didn't know Smoke on the Water!(lol)
But it's so classic that some of us (including me  ) couldn't help giggling...,
though they played fantastically!

...This amazing DVD, especially Steve's part, brought tears to my eyes just as I thought.
Ah...what can I say...?
Steve's performance was really incredible...!
I'm so glad to see this show again...! :D
Thank you so much, Steve, John and Joe...! :D

I don't know where you live in, the region is 2 in Japan.
I can watch this DVD(US version) by my player (only for region 2).
I heard this DVD is region free, so I bought this at Tower Records in Tokyo and this is sold at HMV, too.

So you can watch it on your region 2 player even though its a region 2 disc?
