#1 Post by bennyvx78 » Sat Apr 12, 2008 3:07 pm

While browsing through this cgsociety (society of digital artists )
website, I some how noticed this little pic.

Image

This one is very well done and just to think this just came
out of somebody's computer.

Is everybody on cable or adsl modems? I guess no-one very really
surfs on those 56k modems.. its a large pic.
But anyway.. Think on how much time it took to make it.
It almost looks like a photoshopped photo or somthing like that.
But it isn't .offcourse

Well, it looks like it's a ray-traced picture. It features some nice radiosity (global illumination, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_illumination). Such pictures are rendered on computers providing a good description of the material by the CG artist/designer/engineer. Raytracing is know for its high quality lighting conditions simulation and is used nowadays in animation movies (such as Cars) and even movies such as The Matrix. Check http://hof.povray.org/ for some similar goodies.

hahaha lets hope so.

Im amazed at what those digital artists can do these days.
It results in excellent pics like the one above and in movies and
games. Maybe.. in the future, the borders between reality and
virtual reality will be gone completly.

When will those holodecks ( from star trek ) be a reality?

They really are blurring the lines between fantasy and reality.
