I thought Carvin's website featured a few favorite settings of Vai's. I'm sure their around. Also, have a look at recent live photos in the G3 tour forum. Some of the closer shots will have one or two shots of Vai's Legacy heads there. With the chicken-head knobs, it's pretty easy to tell what he's doing.

I have a video of a G3 soundcheck.....and it has a close-up of Vai's amps.....none of the settings on those heads were anywhere near the settings Carvin gives you as "Steve's favorites."

Personally....I think Steve liked those settings after first playing with the amp, and has changed since.

Also, remember that his amps he uses on stage and in the studio are not the same amp you buy from Carvin.

Whats different about them?

And didn't Steve use Bogners on the G3 tour?

*thinks the tone on the 96 G3 DVD is steve's best*

This was a G3 show with Petrucci, not way back then.....he was using the legacy(s).
Everything was different. All of the settings.

Actually, the amps you buy from carvin are the same as the amps Steve uses. They've already been modified to his specs, so the amps he uses don't need to be modified. When it comes to effects, that's a whole different story.

The amps steve uses were the first proto's.....only he and.......I cant remember who he gave one to.....but they are different....
Also....Steve uses Celestian Greenbacks in his amps, and the ones Carvin sells have Vintage 30's in em. That's a HUGE difference.

and whats up Knight, noticed you are from Vegas too......did it snow where you live? What a trip!

Floods, snow.......this just isnt right lol

WOW! You got to hold Evo. That rules. I would have been so scared of dropping it (mind you, it's probably been through worse!!)
