Idiots

#1 Post by Jeries » Sun Aug 04, 2013 12:05 pm

I'm in the market for a nice prestige/jem/something good after i sell my second sustainer guitar i don't like.

I've came across two White JEM 7v's in great shape for great prices

GREAT PRICES

BUTTTTTTTTTT

Both cases the idiots who owned them destroyed them...

Case 1- the guy ripped out all the frets and had them filled- so its now a fretless.

Case 2- the guy decided he likes tweaking with things...decided to cut up some of the inlays and replace them himself with abolone and pearl... then shellacked the damn thing and clearcoated/finished the whole fretboard like a rickenbacker.

uhhhhhhhhh

the bodies are perfect even the necks are perfect...no dents/dings/scratches... so they're in great shape BESIDES the respective fretboards which is perhaps the most important part of a guitar....

frustrating....

The fretless one $1000
the inlay/epoxy guy $800

both relatively good prices
i'd buy the fretless for $500 and throw some frets in it- my guitar guy said he could jig it up and refret it

i saw the guy selling it on ebay and craigslist for some rediculous price- its in the hands of a music store now so i'm guessing he consigned it or sold it cheap to them...

the bridge and body is prob worth $500

idk how you can prove a jem body is a genuine one though- i'm sure there's probably ways

there are barcodes/stamps AND crop circles in fender bodies that tell you where it was made (three router machine circles mean its made in mexico and there's another circle code or something to prove if something was a genuine usa strat body)
