What's up with the strap on Evo? On some recent videos, Evo hasn't got the DiMarzio ClipLock anymore. Instead of that, the guitar has a wide leather strap with StrapLock system. Why?

thanks! It looke really wierd for evo to have something other than a strap lock. First the black volume knob, then the strap, Jesus Steve what are you doing?! ;) Steve seems to be in an experimental mood with his guitars. He still hasn't changed flo IIIs sustainer back to white. And original flo still isn't seeing much action. For me, the appearance of his guitars actually have a profound impact on how I "see the music" (sorry, synesthesia)

Maybe because it is part of Evo-lution ?

Sorry, bad joke ;-)

Actually that's a good point. BUT, it is weird to see the other strap system on Evo indeed. I'm talking about the issues that Evo had with the locking positions for the strap.

Perhaps the strap broke. Or he for some reason now prefers this one (a gift perhaps, or something akin to that).
Things change :)

But I found another video with Evo and the large strap on here. I hope this one will not be removed.

I think everyone overthinks everything...

Here's an example...
I was showing SV my new Jem privately.

We were talking about it... he played it...etc....

I got a white sustainer so I made it into a Flo type guitar.

One of the first things he noticed was that I had a black knob where the tone is or whatever he has on Flo...

he looked at it- touched it and said "I like that- i do that to my guitars"

His inital impression didn't seem to be "you saw me do it so you copied it" or "you're copying me" it was more like a 'oh thats cool i do that too'

It seemed like he was almost surprised i did it to copy him when i explained how it came about--

I basically gave pictures of flo to the guys installing my sustainer guitar- i told him how i wanted it mounted- even explaining i want 2 screws holding the driver, 2 screws holding the dummy and 2 empty screw holes in between- and gave them pics of flo to see-

They saw all the photos has a black knob for flo- and then did the same to my guitar- seeing it in the pics- I told Vai that and he was impressed by the detail they took making me a flo like guitar.

So my overall though is- if I use a black knob, or kyle puts stupid green tape on his guitars.... or someone changes the strap to this or that- we are putting more thought into this stuff than he has- he just does what he does- and he's pretty fkn great at it.

oh and i'm not going to rip off vai anymore...

i'm going to rip off a new guitarist from now on...

(one that is more my height)
