EVO push/pull potentiometer

#1 Post by Classic 59 » Sun Apr 28, 2013 5:48 pm

Does anyone know what kind of push-pull pot's Steve Vai is using in his guitars? Please take a look at the video below starting at 1:05 in the following link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQVcFj7MIJA

In the video Steve is talking about his custom push/pull pot with a special capacitor that filters out the bottom end when you pull the volume knob at lower volumes. What capacitor and brand push/pull potentiometer do you think he is using?

Thanks!

i think all jems and most ibanez guitars already have capacitors on the volume knob to bleed the high frequencies in when you roll back the volume

if you have an ibanez rg- look at the volume pot if something is attached to it like the tone- you have it too

its pretty common on ibanez

as to what the thing does- i don't know

You, uh, answered your own question well before you asked it .. it's a high pass filter. :)

the push pull knob potentiometer for the high pass filter. Idk if changing the knob to black as anything to do with anything, but it Dosent have that black piece of rubber on it. I also saw a video of Steve playing at the master class on the fourth or fifth or something and he didn't pull up the knob or push it back down during tender surrender, I think he usually uses it there when he be plays that song (at least since he's had the high pass filter)
