Light Without Heat = Sex & Religion

#1 Post by prman » Tue Mar 27, 2007 9:18 am

Here are a couple of Ibanez adds from summer of 1993: http://s104.photobucket.com/albums/m192 ... Heat-1.jpg
and autumn 1993: http://s104.photobucket.com/albums/m192 ... gion-1.jpg

If you take a closer look at the pics and especially the small text at the bottom of them you can notice how the earlier add http://s104.photobucket.com/albums/m192 ... lltext.jpg is also promoting Steve`s album "light Without Heat". The latter http://s104.photobucket.com/albums/m192 ... lltext.jpg is promoting "Sex & Religion". I have a couple of questions regarding this.

Why this sudden change of album title at the very last moments before it hit the streets? Also the painting where Steve holds the guitar looks more like an album cover than a guitar add. Was it meant to be the cover for "Light Without Heat" and then changed when the album was renamed?

I think this add and the painting are absolutely amazing and I would like to know more about them. Can anyone shed some light on them? Mikey? Anyone?

I have those adds too. If I stand correct, Steve had to rename the album due to legal issues of the name "Light Without Heat". Correct me if I'm wrong Mikey.

Light without Heat is a brilliant album name, shame he had to change it (if he did that is...).

Cheers,

I always thought Light without Heat was a brilliant phrase and oxymoronic concept! I haven't heard it in any context other that all things Vai so he must own the rights to it. So what legal reasons could prevent him from releasing an album under that title?
