Fave Vai guitar sound ever (as in solo guitar sound) is the one he uses on 'The Animal' from 'Passion & Warfare'. It's just so damn nasty and sexy and crisp. Wish I could ever get a sound like that. :)

my favourite tone of all vai songs is in the blood and tears, the distorted part, it's just a very pure form of distortion if that makes any sense.

i like the guitar sound on slip of the tongue and PAW. mind you he did use the same rig on both :lol: BUT i own a legacy and it totally rocks.

Tough decision on those last three for me. They're all so good. Although I really hate Marshall amps so that one was a no just for that. I think the Carvin Legacy is my favorite, I like that tone alright.

If you guys don't mind, I would love someone to expand on how he gets the sound on Eat Em And Smile as well; a minimalist myself, and not incredibly knowledgable on tech, his sound to me sounds very 'recessed' and lower on treble than his current sound. My guess is he was using the DS-1, and had the middles way up, to begin with. Any expansion would be appreciated.

I guess Alien Love Secrets sounds are Bogner Ecstasy. But i'm not sure.

New Carvin tone is stunning... but the Bogner Ecstasy was also very very good imho
