ca_fighterace wrote:I have some pics of a clear acrylic "JEM" with LEDs. I made it about a year ago but did not install the LEDs (though it's routed for it), the pic is taken by lighting it up from the outside into the material and the engraving lights up like a christmas tree! It would be cool if they did something like that, the sound is great(like a mix of ash and bass wood) and the sustain is unreal but it would weigh a ton if they want to stay with the floyd...

I will post photo when I'm off probation...lol

Youre off probation Magnus ;)
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT THE JEM20th. It is an artists rendering of what I think it COULD or SHOULD look like. You will have to wait til Namm to see what the REAL thing looks like.

Thanks to Magnus for letting me use pictures of his ACTUAL acrylic guitar for these concept pictures. Magnus specializes in acrylic and can probably make just about anything you want out of the material. Check out his own guitar on myspace.

No it has a RG421 neck. I did not want to put a Floyd in it for weight reasons (too a thick body...acrylic IS heavy) so I put a Schaller fixed roller bridge and modified it for string through for best sustain. I believe the one you are referring to is a body that was built by me and it's being used by another builder in his advertisement. I lent it to him and now he's holding on to it...bad deal (lawsuit pending to get it back). Laughable about the Jackson neck though he will never be able to finish the guitar...

Peace,

Magnus

I expected something nicer...... I really wanted to like and even buy the thing but puffffff.

One of the things I love of my jem is the alder so this one is a step behind for me.

It is difficult to please everybody, I know, but seems like a cheap guitar to me.

I'd love to see it in person though.

I'm finally buying my first JEM at the end of the year, but 7k is a little much. I hope we're just dealing with the wrong facts (as usual on message boards) and that the price is much lower than that. Mind you, if it's an anniversary model I'm sure it won't be anywhere near the standard JEM price.

Still, can't wait to see it. 2007 looks like being a great year for Vai fans....
- aching hunger dvd
- real illusions dvd
- jewel box cd
- new jem
- perhaps new ALS-type cd

All we need now is a special one-off concert in Glasgow and we're laughing.

Good start of the year. Never expected the 20th would be an acrylic one. It looks still cool though. The price is way too high for me. I'm excited what the new black Jem looks like. Old style like an 7PBK would be cool. But congratulations to Steve and Ibanez for making cool sounding guitars with great looks!! 20 years is a remarkable friendship and decication. Hope this is a friendship for life. Again, congrats.

Mikey made a great image by switching from led off to led on, amazing!

It can really give you the idea of how the guitar changes!

And surely She's more beautiful than all those crappy pics that were flying around the web made me thought, specially with the led on.

Great 20th anniversary, no doubt; Her owners will have a killer axe in their hands (I think they won't play her so much though)

Can't wait to see some more pics and specifics about Her!
