20th anniversary JEM?

#1 Post by solodini » Fri Aug 25, 2006 10:24 am

Just wondering, does anyone know if Ibanez plan to release a 20th anniversary JEM next year? That would be so cool. Perhaps a bit money hungry of Ibanez if they did but i would buy one if I could raise the funds!

Yes. And why would it be money hungry? Ibanez are in the business of making guitars for profit.

I wouldn't say "money hungry" either, a JEM is a beautiful guitar, I feel its worth every penny if you were to buy one...

I don't mean money-hungry to sound malicious but it just seems that they release SOOO many variations (ie fancy colour options etc) that it kinda seems like they're slightly preying on the desires of the fans. But a 20th anni. one would be much more worthwhile imo than some of the other variations. And yes, details pleeeeeease!!!

Where are you seeing all these fancy coloured and different JEM's, I have only see the regular White Jem and the Bad Horsie RockMirror one, I haven't even seen the universe yet!

In the UK i'v seen the UV, JEM7V in White& blue, JEM555 in White and Black (Although that's fair enough: budget option), I'v seen the mirror, the flower pattern and the black lumpy one. That's quite a few. Most of these, if I remember rightly have totally different PU options.

The lumpy black one is the JEM7DBK and has a screw head looking inlay and I think has the Dimarzio Breed pick-ups. I spent most the day playing with that guitar in the shop lol, it's an excellent guitar. Even in Australia I've seen quite a few different jems. A lightish Blue, mirror and of course the JEM7VWH were also spotted in various music stores around here. Still havn't come across a Universe yet though.

The difference between them isn't just the colour, the hardware combinations differ from each other and give each of them a unique feel and sound. If anything, there should be more variations available.

I'm sure nobody ever bought a Jem they didn't want.

Being from the boondocks (Canadian prairies), we see very few Jems around here, but they have a Bad Horsie Mirror Jem in Saskatoon, and I haven't found any others in any shop I've visited from Vancouver to Montreal. I did play a floral pattern Jem in an Amsterdam guitar store, though. I love Holland. 8)

But what I really want to know is:

WHAT ARE THE PLANS - if any - FOR A 20TH ANNIVERSARY JEM :?:

I bet Ibanez is just proud to bring out an anniversary model for Steve. And they should be! I know I am as a fan.

Or Jem2007
