Steve Vai and Joe Satriani recorded the guitar parts to "Feed My Frankenstein" by Alice Cooper, which is off the "Hey Stoopid!" album. (1991 I think)

Vai used a book called "The Audio Engineers Handbook: An Audio Encyclopedia" Or something to that effect. You can read up on it on one of the FAQ pages. Bear in mind that this book is about 30 years old, and recording technology changed dramatically since then. I would suggest a more up-to-date book.

I think he got that Charvel in 85, which would be after flexable.

I think he recorded most of it with that Strat, and then a couple of the performance strats he had.

OK! :D But his first instrumental solo album was "Passion and Warfare" WRONG! His first solo album was "Flexable" recorded between April and November of 1983, and came out in 1984. Flex-Able Leftovers was shortly after that. Passion and Warfare came out in 1990, 6 years later. ;) Please note...

While there is no recess under the tremolo, the tremolo sits close to 1 CM above the guitars body, so it has a little bit of pull up room. He had a performance strat that he may have used around that time. He'res a photo taken around 1983 of a young Steve Vai with a very cool pants/shoes, the Carvin...

Thats the reason it has alot of power, is so you dont have to crank it to the point where you get SOLISTATE power distortion.

Which is similar in sound to a broken speaker. . . .terribly ugly.

Clean Channel for Cleans

Dirty Channel for some distorted rhythm.

Dirty Channel + either a Boss DS-1 or a Keeley Modded Ibanez TS9DX tubescreamer for the solos.
