Thanks guys. I posted it over at Carvin after Fyrie suggested it. I'll take some pics of the settings and post them, but mic placement was important when it came to recording it. I'm pretty flattered to find that you think the playing is good, if I came out with some of the lines I played in the cli...

I used to worry about things like this but I have the lot now. A Jem, Legacy, Pedals etc. I use them all and I love it. Non muso audiences don't even know what it means for a guitarist to be standing there playing a Jem. It's just a guitar with a 'funny little handle thing' to them. The people who t...

Legacy 2x12 combo clip
This is for anyone interested in how a Legacy sounds out of the box. If you like the clip great, if you don't, please bear in mind that I've EQ'd it for my ears and playing style. Being a Steve Lukather fan I begged my covers band to learn Toto's Rosanna so that I could show off or at least try to s...

Use a Shure SM57, put headphones on play a few notes on the guitar and move the mic around the speaker until you find the sound you like. I have the amp pretty loud and place the mic about 2" from the edge of the speaker with mic at an angle. Something like this speaker-(/-mic if you get what I mean...

Hi Jemgirl Thanks for the help, but it doesn't really give me the info I need (or I'm too thick to understand it!) I've downloaded the PDF from Dimarzio and it shows the 0.22udf capacitor. I checked out online electronics stores and ebay for the capacitor but it lists it with different voltages. I j...

RG tone control capacitor?
I need a tech-head's help please, if you're out there! I'm replacing the pick-ups and electrics in one of my RG's. In the past I've usually left the old pots and switches in and just swapped out the pick-ups. This time I'm changing the lot in order to try and troubleshoot a weak bridge pick-up. What...

Hey Ant711UK when you said your stock tubes became microphonic after a few months, what were the symtoms you were experiencing? I had a problem with my Legacy head. It was as though the reverb would kick in turned all the way up for no reason. A similar sound to when you knock the amp while it's on...

I reckon he did a bit of an 'Elton John' (in the hair department obviously!!) between recording RI and the tour and went for hair extensions, now he's removed them. Or maybe he actually looks like Joe Satriani and he wears a syrup!! Oh no! wrong guitar player that was Frank Gambale, but he's come cl...

I'm not a Hendrix fan and I don't have a favourite song but I do love hearing his music in some films or documentaries based around the 70's period. To me, Jimi Hendrix' music and playing is a feeling in itself. I was too young to appreciate it for what it was at the time, but his songs and guitar w...

T Wow, it's a good thing Steve doesn't seem to be claustrophobic! The people are crowding him like crazy! I was there that night and Steve had to ask everyone to take a step back because they were going to knock the table over where he & Sharon were signing. He promised that he'd stay and sign some...
