i like the regular shirt. vai should have like a beanie hat with only his logo on it for those of us who live in cold weather. posters would be nice too. im sure they'll have more stuff soon

john petrucci is usually inevitable without predictable. many times, as in this improvised glasgow kiss solo i have thought "of course the melody progresses like that!" or "of course this phrase ends like this" but its not something i would have thought of had i not heard it in its entirety.

i dont think anyone knocking petrucci is really giving him a fair chance. forget the fact that hes technically skilled. what does he do that vai and satch dont do? alternate pick? in that case hes really not that much more technically skilled. just because hes not dancing around and making funny fac...

John- Set list: A+ (i hold his music to a lower standard than i do satch and vai) Performance: A (just needs to interact with audience more. His playing is flawless though) Steve- Set list: B (Audience Is Listening deserves to be front and center, building the church is a cool song and km pee du wee...

well i will say this: steve has a truly unique style. i think he is the kinda player thats either going to play something really great or play something that fails. hes going to take a few losses sometimes but you generally count on him to play something thats going to blow you away. its not convent...

I definitely agree. I've been listening to the '96, and '03 G3's lately and I would also have to say that the first G3 with Eric Johnson has to be Vai's best playing Jam-wise Dont know about that. Steve's solo on Rockin in the Free World is a killer. That first note just floors me every time. Compa...

man i think the highlights for each set are: john petrucci's Glasgow kiss solo. that is such a great solo and its not on the studio version. he is such a great melodic player. like vai said "everything he plays is bulletproof" vai's audience is listening joe's up in flames or war (war is the better ...

thing is, i dont necessarily think that petrucci or satch ARE better at improvising. ive heard vai's improv numberous times, on the G3 1996 dvd its amazing (his solos in Im Going Down and My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama dominate all) and in the harmony hut jam with satch he really just makes your ...

ok i jsut read the other reviews. there is a serious vai bias here and its to be expected since this is his site forum. vai and satch are my favorites with petrucci there too. i always thought of vai and satch as the better solo guitar players and JP as more of a band guy. JPs technique is flawless ...

ok this has to be tied with the first g3 concert for the best one. the 3 of them are just amazing. johns set is kinda short and not nearly as interactive but he plays all the notes perfectly and always has a great tone. vai's set is electric (big change from the last g3 dvd) and his performance is g...

i dont think gilbert will be on a G3 tour unless Joe gets really desperate. Joe probably wont invite a wanker. Yngwie was an original in his own right. but if you start thinking about guys who play like paul gilbert, then hey why not michael angelo batio? why not marcel coenen? why not rusty cooley...

the G3 tour from now until it ends should just be Joe, Steve and John. There really is NO possible combination that would be better. :D
