Re: To Steve Vai, Light in slow motion

I hope something like this will be adapted to music somehow.

Re: music played before the show

Hi, I visited one of the recent G3 gigs & wanted to ask if anyone knows what songs play before Steve's appearance. So far I got recognized these three: > Joe Tex - I Gotcha > Johnny "Guitar" Watson - A Real Mother For Ya > Frank Zappa & The Mothers - Camarillo Brillo As I understand, these backgrou...

Re: "The Story of Light" is being well received by the press

Does anyone know if there's a Japanese bonus track for the album called "People of the World"?

"I'm down here"

I sense a significance of the quote "I'm down here." Listen to "Under It All" from the last record, right after 0:18. Now listen at the end of "Mullach a' Tsi" and at 2:00 on "No More Amsterdam." I love Steve's whisper, and I forgot to ask him about "I'm down here" at EVO!

Re: 15 hours

I recently did the 15 hour workout. I got into some pretty freaky States of mind. My vision is five times sharper, every note seems louder, and I can play effortlessly in almost any key. I lost myself for like 3 hours, and finally looked at the clock and 3 hours had passed already. I have had a ple...

Re: Story of Light Tour DVD?

Well, just think - there are a lot of songs that were on the last DVD, BUT they have evolved into something new now because the band is different. Steve has always talked about evolving everthing he does. FTLOG is different now because he plays the opening melody with the harpist, not the violins an...

Thank you Steve for putting on the best concert I've ever been to. I met you at EVO before the show and I asked you about classical music. I was the kid in the second row. Thank you for such an uplifting experience. I can't wait for an opportunity to see you again.

Re: who are you top ten guitarists ?

I notice you have put dave murray,.would he be dave murray the blues guitarist from new zealand perhaps ? [/quote] No. That's Dave Murray from Iron Maiden. I used to be a Maiden freak (and still am sorta). Out of all Maiden's guitarists, I liked him the most because he always seemed laid-back but s...

Re: EVERYONE LISTEN UP

I think I discoverd Steve from just searching the internet. I probably read about him then looked him up. Then, I went to iTunes and bought two of his songs. The first Vai song that ever vibrated my eardrums I'm pretty sure was Bad Horsie. I was amazed at how he made the guitar speak and sound like ...

That's amazing. Are the people in the smaller circles supposed to be Steve? I hope Steve sees this and uses it for Real Illusions III. "Lotus Feet" - I get it  Love that lotus...

In no particular order (except Steve and Frank - they're up top)

Steve Vai
Frank Zappa
Jimmy Page
Jimi Hendrix
Paul Gilbert
Joe Satriani
Dave Murray
Dave Mustaine
Zack Wiesinger (check him out on iTunes!)
George Benson (singing what you play is the coolest thing ever)

Re: Really Interesting Steve Vai Interview

When I started playing guitar, around 9 yrs, I used to sit on the floor with the guitar flat on my lap and I'd play the inevitable Smoke on the Water with my thumb. Then my uncle showed me how to play with it upright with all my other fingers. I heard Whole Lotta Love and was hooked. Now I'm in my h...

The Rite of Spring

Since Steve is a composer of orchestral music just as well as a guitar player, I know he's experienced this piece of music: "The Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky. It's my favorite piece of music written, EVER. In fact, I read in an interview with Steve that he's going to write a new piece of orche...
