But the cd2 songs from Alive in an ultra world were pretty poor. The black forest would be mind-blowing live, unlike Babushka or Principessa :}

That same question has been bugging me for a while.. but yes, theory is neccessary.
You just have to know scales and stuff to be able to improvise. And improvising is my fave part in playing guitar ;).
