Mark my words...Brian Wilson will win. The whole Smile and the misunderstood genious thing will carry him with the old time voters who have been craving the stupid Smile album for 37 years. Hell it was called the best album ever made and it wasn't even completed. The grammy's are a joke.

or say that we should get rid of 6/8 and 3/8 because they can all be notated in 3/4
I don't think 3/8 and 3/4 are the same thing. :?:

What if my drummer was playing in 4/4 and i decided to play a lick with 5 notes in the space of two. that would be 5:2 on the paper but still in 4/4 time.

I define tone as the sound your equipment makes.

Thus the way you play doesn't create tone, it creates style.

I don't know how old your girlfriend is, but take it from someone who knows, just tell her how you feel. She would appreciate that more than any song someone else wrote. I did this for my girlfriend when we were 18. She is now my wife at 28. If you are a musician write her a song. No matter how bad ...

I do believe that tone is in the fingers.Equipment is just a support. Steve Vai played guitar on S.Lukathers last album (called merry xmas). He played all the guitar parts on the setup of Luke. Now if you're familiar with Luke's tone and equipment you'll know that they have nothing in common!Do yours...

I think you could do the same thing in 4/4.

if you had a rhythm in quarter notes such as one and two and three and four, and you played triplets over them you would have a triplet feel, yet you would still be in 4/4.

Vai's tone in DLR is different, from the tone in Whitesnake, which is different than the tone on Real Illusions. Tone seems to be in the equipment. Neck Pickup sounds different than bridge pickup right? Chorus sounds different than distortion right. All of this equipment added up makes tone. Even cl...

My point is this may be true for style but not necessarily tone. If I picked up my friends guitar it would sound like me playing with my friends guitar. I agree with everone it is the vibrato, and touch, and maybe even oil content(only a drummer?), but the tone is the tone. A Les Paul into Marshall ...

Now all we need is for you to admit someone else might have a practical reason for it, and the planets will align.
