Oh, I'm sorry, are you bored? How awful for you. I think the argument about "you know what you're going to get at a G3 concert" is kind of baloney. Maybe if you were well acquainted with all three of the performers, taking into account their tendencies and histories, then yeah, you could reasonably ...

Well, I think you're stupid and I hate you and you're dumb and you smell funny, Jra2217. Plus I bet you're all goofy looking, what with your buck teeth and cowlick. Your clothes fit poorly and you lack gumption. Not that I'm attacking you personally, or anything. My favorite AC/DC song is "Girl's Go...

I'll choose to respond to your point rather than your tone. The peculiar behavior of the performer is often (and well should be) constrained by intention and taste. There's a difference between doing something for the sheer sake of aggravation and doing it for a purpose. This is where trust comes in...

Two songs that never ever fail me: "I'll Follow the Sun" and "Eight Days a Week". Most other stuff from the Beatles' early-middle period, like "Hard Day's Night", "Beatles for Sale", and so forth. Perfect blend of accessibility and (I don't care what ANYONE says) sheer compositional genius. So yeah,...

Might as well step into the fray here. I think the fundamental problem in the reception of Fripp's music is the dreaded E-word, "expectation". Most people have been conditioned to accept a startlingly small set of events at your standard concert. Band comes out, plays songs, banters a bit, yadda yad...

Denis - I guess you're too amateur to know, but blues IS shit. Saying someone can play blues well is like saying they can say the alphabet well. Big **** deal. "blues" is based off a cheesy, infantile and simplistically gratifiable piece of shit scale that even a wo year old autistic child with one...

He really is a horribly untalented crap of a musician. No, he isn't. You are talking out of your rectum. You are most likely suffering from the "I haven't this type of thing before" effect, which reactionary twerps (such as yourself) interpret as a fault of the performer, rather than the audience. ...

Nothing religious, philosophical or mystical about it! (phooey!) I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The ability to manipulate the physical existence of another through sound wave manipulation: magical. The alteration of states of mind through same: philosophical. Persisting beliefs that m...

I heard "Slither" and "Sucker Train Blues" and I wasn't really grabbed. But since I only heard them once, and it usually takes me many, many listens to grasp something, I suspend judgement. That's just my first impression. I still think Slash is cool, however. Why doesn't he wear his hat anymore?

Oh, one more thing. On the "S&R" album, Devin Townsend sings "Jesus Christ, or any son of the heatless light..." If you assume Jesus was the son of God, then this "light without heat" could be shorthand for God, or at least the divine presence/force. It's also interesting to note that as far as we c...

From everything I've heard, I don't think it makes too much difference. I could see how in some cases how longer fingers are actually a detriment, in that they're more to move around, take up more space, etc. Shawn Lane, Angus Young and Steve Morse all have average (if not stubby) fingers that I kno...

Sounds like the "Alien Love Secrets" DVD to me, available in the vai.com online store if I'm not mistaken, or at any reputable video outlet! Steve performs all the songs on "ALS" with a backing band, along with several delectable extra features. I definitely recommend purchasing it.

I don't like John Mayer at all. I hate his hoarse, teary-eyed voice, his cream-puff "aren't I cute?" pouting, and I REALLY hate how he was on the cover of "Guitar Player" just because he knows about 9th intervals. If he were three times the player he is now Steve could still eat him for breakfast (a...

This "backward masking" business is a load of utter hogwash. 1) As has been said, why would a band go to all the trouble of trying to subliminally influence a generation of listeners to accept the tenets of satanism? If they were trying to extol the devil this has got to be one of the dumbest ways I...
