Re: It's official, Steve's now on the fractal audio artist l

I was waiting for this to happen, (Vai getting an Axe-FX, not the debate that has come of it...). There's so much you can do with the Axe, it'll be hard to tell what he's going to do with it. Vai was digesting gear manuals back in the day while other guys were getting their rigs set up by Mr. Bradsh...

Re: 2010 JEM7VWH - is that the ultimate jem guitar

Actually, gold Edge trems were available for a time....I had to do some digging, but about 10 years ago, I found one that I traded for the Lo-Pro on my 7V. It was aged a bit and I believe it came from a U.S. Custom, but it had good knife edge's and did what I wanted it to. I haven't come across many...

Re: NAMM

Bummer about not seeing the new trem design....

We WILL be seeing an OLD trem design however, as Ibanez has brought back the original Edge, which will be on the JEM line.

Hahahahah....

This is one of the funniest things I've heard in a while.

For those who don't know, it's been rumored for a while now that Steve's amps have had Fargen guts in them. This could definitely have something to do those rumors...

I wonder if there were any Fargen guts in his live rig....

Of all the forums I've visited through the years, this is the only one with members dumb enough to come on and brag about bootleg goodies they've bought.

Congratulations, bro.

Years ago, I asked Rich Pike, (Steve's former assistant, and if any of you subscribed to GKS back in the day, Rich put that together...), if Steve was a Gilmour fan, he told me they discussed him a bit, but not much more than that.

Rich, on the other hand, is a big fan of Gilmour.

Is the bar itself broken, or where it sits in the bridge?

There are many different ways those things can break....kinda have to be more specific.

They are actually made from the droppings of many silk worms, compressed into tiny little strands that make up an audio cable. Instead of using standard 1/4" jacks, Steve had to track down Robocop and rip his fingers off to use the individual fingers for jacks. This is only part of it though. In ord...

Re-amping is slightly different than adding effects to a pre-existing mix. Re-amping is when ya take a sound, track, recorded piece, whatever it may be and send it back out to an amp and capture that recorded sound. So say I'm recording a rhythm part, I might open up a couple different tracks, one w...

I'd assume he records dry and then adds his effects through plug-ins or outboard gear. Unless he's got a certain sound going on already and wants to capture that. It's just so much easier when it comes to mixing to have complete control over every aspect of every instrument. Especially when ya think...

That was the era of Vai I dig the most. And you can't beat Mike Mangini....

Funny, when people talk about the Bad Horsey guitar now, they're talking about the 77BRMR, but the JEM in that video will always be the Bad Horsey in my book.

It's all the G-System now. It was a G-Force before that. I remember on the Ultra Zone tour he had an SDE-3000 in the rack, but it wasn't turned on. On his G-Force the billboard was streaming "VAI CHORUS AND DELAY" (Or maybe 'delay and chorus', I can't remember), but that was on most of the show back...

Playing 'sloppy' often adds to that human factor. If you think about the idea behind it, when used by guitarist who are primarily really clean guitarist, it's thrown in at peak moments or something given a little swagger or groove, a little roughness. It's definitely used as a technique for some, fo...
