"Wade through advertising"? It takes about 5 seconds to read, if you decide to read it... It's not like there is a bunch of crap you have to watch/read before checking out the videos, is it? Yeah, but it's hard to ignore. Anyway, I'm all for Steve having his own channel. I don't want to come across...

Deservedly so? The videos uploaded by other people are only going to make people more likely to get the DVD, and it's a good way of knowing what you're getting before buying your products. I know this is exactly what you've done on your channel, but at least other people have the decency of not writ...

Making faces while you play can only ADD to the quality of the performance, as long as they're not forced. I'll have to play Red house from...

Fire Coma?

I've just been reading the fire coma stories http://www.vai.com/AllAboutSteve/discography/firecoma/index.html These are amazing! I know these experiences evolved into the album Fire Garden, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to see these stories in an actual novel. Another thought: Is this...

Regarding weird chords, a good excersise for learning to use them well is to take a simple progression you know well, such as the 12 bar blues perhaps, and try different variations on the chords you know, such as playing a dominant 13 instead of a major for example. Dominant 7, 9, 11 and 13 chords a...

Building the church tapping

So I've learned the crazy synth tapping intro to Building The Church, but if I try to play it as fast as Vai does on the CD, my fingers melt and it ends up sounding like messy musical crap. I can play it just a little bit slower on a good day, but its hard to make my fingers do what I want when they...
