I like to play the very first solo that Vai plays in Crossroads (the one where Eugene first arrives to that club where the devil invites him), and i like to play the ending to Answers G3 version. I usually play variations to to that one sweeping part, the shreddy speed-picking part of that one scale...

Last night my martial arts instructor said "I've never heard of ANYONE fending off an attacker in a dark alley by dropping to the ground and doing push-ups". And then we proceeded to do push-ups. It's kind of the same principle. On the otherhand, the analogy i try to relate to this, is playing bask...

Well that might not be the case, for me 200 bpm is my goal for the Rock Discipline chromatic exercises why? 'cause i've always wanted to play the solo to "Under The Glass Moon", and the very last run is 16th notes at about 200 bpm (it's actually more like uh...eleventuplets at like 140) however, I d...

Re: scale tutor books

Hi, I just quit guitar lessons because the teacher wasn't good (in my opinion). Most Innovative Eddie Van Halen songs

In one of the other Van Halen threads (i think it was the one where everybody was arguing), i remember reading a while ago where someone posted a list of EVH songs and why they were creative and such a breakthrough, saying things like, "no one used this technique, but he did blablabla" for each song...
