Everyone question's their direction on the instrument at some stage. Then they realize that they are wasting time & carry on playing. :P I mean...It's a addiction, playing. I think every player in the history of the instrument has gotten discouraged at some point. I try to stay away from watching o...

Check out: Melissa Cross - The Zen of Screaming It may be called screaming, but she goes through basic breathing and vocal techniques and it's really good. Not like other dvd's I've seen where some noname rock singer with serious attitude issues try to teach you how to look cool and have power! whe...

just my two cents, i did Vai's ten hour workout, now i just don't think about it....at all :? That would do it. I had to learn how to pick using alternates, and it was a tough first week, but afterwards it was natural. I also had to relearn how to play clarinet after a long time of playing wrong. I...

I don't really think Gilmour is that good of a singer. The effects he uses makes his voice sound pleasant, but then again he gives Brittany Spears a good run for her money in vocal effects. That said, he sounds pretty good. I just don't think he has any real vocal talent. His guitar chops speak for ...

David Gilmour/Post Waters Pink Floyd

I'd like to know what everybody's thoughts are on the matter. I happen to love both A Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division Bell, even to the point where I enjoy them much more than the early and mid Pink Floyd albums. I feel that they are much deeper musically than any of the earlier work. Also, G...

couldn't you fix the "not a shredders guitar" problem simply by lowering the action seeing as how im sure the AT sig. very fast so it should be "faster" with lower action right? also i don't like how ibanez is making all these "shredder" guitars for the metal guys and they are very plain your guita...

Question with Line 6 Gearbox and Garageband.

I have the Line6 Gearbox. My model is the Toneport GX. It's the smallest http://line6.com/toneportgx/ It's line outs include a headphone line out and some other port I can't identify. I've been able to run the headphone line out with a converter to an amp, and it sounds pretty good. I'm wondering if...

Well, all of this has been helpful. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing until I can get a Line 6 valve cabinet. The saturation of the distortion for Line 6 is amazing, I just like a little bit more clarity.

Be Jealous, Very Jealous

I'm going to see Les Paul play next Monday at the Iridium. :P He is a living legend and the main reason why anybody can play solid-body guitars to this day. Between this and Vai in September at the Keswick, I have to say that this year I've been able to hear some great artists in comfortable venues.

The Spider amps don't take pedals well in the first place, not to mention the Digitech Death Metal pedal isn't anything great. You're better off ditching the Digitech pedal and spending more time tweaking your amp. What settings are you using and what kind of sound are you going for? Well, I like t...

Looping my pedals through my amp head

Hey, just a quick question to the tone masters here. When I run my Digitech Death Metal, and other pedals through my Spider 3 75 watt head, even on the clean channel with all effects turned off, it sounds one-dimensional, flat, and there's a lot of feedback. I've been using the distorted channels on...

I personaly dosent like bolt on. I much more prefere neck thru ou st thru construction type. On hi quality guitars, the bolt on contruction is becoming less frequent. Some people still prefere bolt on and its classic and relaeble. I honestly think that if bolt-on was so glaringly inferior to set ne...

I think that the glasses, along with some of the other stuff he wears, is custom made clothing/accessories. Most rockstars don't wear stuff that's mass-produced in Indonesian factories.

My question more specifically is: Has there been anything you just cannot nail every time and just simply drop from recording, play live, or trying to master. We know that Vai or Satch can do sweep picking, legato, etc, but is there some beat they just could never consistently get down. Or, does Va...
