just another heavy metal band... honestly, havent heard anything spectacular or ground-breaking from them... Then you haven't been listening. As annoyed as I get with Janne's extended synth solos, they are one of the few bands to utilize the well in their music. Alexi fuses his brand of neoclassica...

I was exaggerating a little when I said "fire him". What I would do was sit him down and give him a stern talking to in which I would tell him if he ever did another solo, there would be a pyrotechnics "accident" at one of the shows. His backing stuff is pretty catchy, like throughout all of Follow ...

I didn't know they made singles for 7 strings. Even humbuckers sometimes have problems processing the low-end rumble. Totally weird.

Ah, CoB. I have to say, their earlier stuff is dynamite. Follow the Reaper is a truly terrific album, but their new stuff leaves much to be desired. It is basically metalcore with keyboards. I like the catchy writing that went into Follow and even partially into Hatecrew Deathroll. Lately, it's been...

I hated pinch harmonics and typically have problems with them, so I did what every respectable guitarist would do: I learned a way to get around it so I wouldn't have to do it or even think about it. I think the way I do it is called a "split harmonic" if I understood Vivian Campbell correctly. You...

Re: reccomend a

I posted this in another section, but I feel it captures my thoughts nicely on the issue of pirating. Business has defined what is "radio-friendly" and left the other 99.9% of music out of the loop. People wonder why we have about a zillion pop band clones, but is it that hard to grasp? That's the o...

I'm a lefty...... but I play like a righty....... You see, that's how I think it should work. If you learn any instrument besides guitar, they don't make them lefty. MAB learned righty. I happen to be ambidextrous. I opened my locker in highschool with my left hand. I clean windows with my left han...

Well, I want to get one of these

But right now I'm using a crappy generic one that has no name and is likely to give my guitar a good spill if I move around too much while playing.

What exactly is the difference between a Floyd Rose and an Edge Pro? I have an edge pro, but I've heard people swear by Edges more than Floyd Rose trems. I'm just wondering what the advantages/disadvantages are and what the breakdown is.

And poor Yngwie has sausage fingers. I don't have terribly long fingers either.

I'm not sure what's going on. I haven an RG4EX1 with an Edge Pro, but apparently the next incarnation of that guitar has a Floyd Rose licensed trem or something.

I'm lucky I'm not in your shoes. If I was I'd be caught between two schools of thought: teaching them how to rock by tab with immediate results or teaching them actual music and making them learn notes. It's crucial to know both, but notes are just better in the long run. Tabs just about teach thems...

i'm absolutly fed up with the state of the music industry today...its awful the biz side of music today fucking, sucks. Somewhat unrelated, but I agree completely.
