I've heard of Viking Kong... I heard it on the Ernie Ball online radio.
I totally agree... one of the best shred solos I've heard in a long time! :)

Is "Power Breaker" another word? Power Soak, never heard that. I think it's one of those devices that allows you to turn up the gain and volume all the way on your valve-state amps to achieve an awesome tone without losing your hearing... it's like a master volume. More like a post post volum...

Yep, thelordofcheesecake has a good method. However the midi cable is not really a "midi" cable... it looks like it. The midi cable that he mentioned is actually a GK cable that connects the GK pickup to the GR unit. It's a 13-pin cable that carries both guitar and synth signals to the GR unit... de...

I would have to say: "Tender Surrender" or "For The Love of God" - Steve Vai "Cryin" - Joe Satriani "Comfortably Numb"- David Gilmore "Another Day" or "The Spirit Carries On" - John Petrucci "Eruption" or "Ice Cream Man" - Eddie Van Halen "Little Wing" either by Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, or S...

I love this album too! The first disc is my favorite... very ambient, melodic, and heavy! Glass Prison is superb. I like disc two... a mix of different stories tied together by scenes adding up to a song with a total of 42 minutes!!! If you listen to disc two and like the scene transitions, then I'd...

Yeah, there are some chromatic exercises that are boring at times, but overall the DVD is not that boring. I find it very useful! It includes stretches, chord constructions, and left/right hand sequences that I thought that really helped me. You'll enjoy it. The mini-booklet that's included with the...

I totally agree with you Jbstratman. I did notice that the GK 13-cable can be used with other devices for other companies. I didn't notice that Roland had a "built-in" feature component available. I guess I didn't pay attention. That's a very nice option though! I did try out one of those "Ro...

First of all I know for sure that the GK pickup (like the GK-3) and the GR-33 are sold separately... unfortunately. The special 1/4" to 1/8" guitar/GK linking wire for the GK pickup control should be included with the GK pickup package. The GK package includes adhesive tape, spacers, and mounting cl...

I think B.R.O. is pretty awesome. I first heard a clip of it off the DiMarzio website myself. It's also on the Ernie Ball online radio under the shred genre. The radio includes songs by artists who are Ernie Ball endorsers or product users. There are plenty of genres like Classic Hits, Rock, Punk, C...

You don't need to replace any pickup for the GK pickup. You just leave your pickups (I'm assuming they are Breeds like you've mentioned earlier) alone, and just add your GK to the guitar (between the bridge and bridge guitar pickup)... that's it. It would be crazy to take out a guitar pickup just to...

Yep, Vai did use a guitar synth for Building The Church. You can really hear it during the beginning two handed tapping sequence of the song. He also used it in Midway Creatures. If you haven't, check out the Real Illusions session/promo video under the sights and sounds page. Vai used the floral pa...

Do you know how many "Flame" guitars did Steve have over the years, RAI? The machines page says three but I do believe that there's a possibility that he could've had at least 5 or so... maybe concept models ... or probably backups. :? I can't imagine how the guitars can be rotated from one restaura...

I know that Steve Vai has at least used the Roland GR-33 for his two demos provided on the Roland website. I'm not sure if he did use the GR-33 on Real Illusions (It sure sounds good though). I don't think he used one on Ultra Zone at all though, but I'm not sure. I understand that he did use the GK...

A "Flame" guitar spotted in Hawaii!!!

Well, I just got back from a two-week vacation in Hawaii with my family... one week on the island of Kauai and one week on the island of Oahu. What a relief! What's better than to go to Hawaii after high school graduation? The weather is always perfect there and the ocean and mountains are beautiful...
