What do you mean 'how the hell would they know?' Who the hell are you? No need to get defensive! If you must know, I believe it's because someone can say to them to sing a certain note and they can sing it straight away. And apparently, not everyone has the ability to be able to do that or s...

Perfect pitch is obtainable, some people require extensive ear training others pick it up pretty much immediately. It's a sliding scale and everyone has a place on it. Yes but surely by definition, those on the lower end of the scale do not have perfect pitch. You can't have a 'sliding scale' of pe...

My brother had pretty much instantaneous perfect pitch but I always had good relative pitch and ear d...

Both my dad and my brother claim to have 'perfect pitch' and they reckon that it's something you either have or don't have, you can't learn the ability to have perfect pitch. Although obviously you can learn to recognise notes, but that's not actually the same as having perfect pitch.

It said that when I ordered it too. But I assumed it was because they're not shipping them until June 24th or whenever it is, not that they have actually run out of stock, because they can't have done already! It just means they're not going to ship them yet I think

I've ordered the CD, against my better judgement! I suppose the outrageous postal costs can be justified by the 1 in 4 chance of getting an aftershow pass!

Putting your phone number on the internet is one of the smartest things to do   eXor is right Paul. Quickly remove the phone number by pressing the edit button on your post before the damage is done. It's up to him where he puts his phone number! Why do you care? I've said it before and...

Criticism generally stems from fear or jealousy... or both. Unfortunately I think Steve has generated feelings of fear and jealousy amongst many people in the music industry over the years. Jealousy, for obvious reasons: most people know that they are never going to be as good as him. And fear becau...

That embroidery thing on Steve's trousers (sorry, pants) is intriguing. I like it though. Nice pics, by the way!

I didn’t realise there was a review thread for this! My first comment would be that to call it a “masterclass” was a bit misleading! I think “Scruffy, disinterested bloke asks Steve Vai some questions, which Steve does his best to answer and intermittently plays some guitar” would’ve been more appro...

i'm one of the ones asking a weird question in teh second seminar. the question was: as part of your style you have developed quite a number of unorthodox guitar techniques, tricks, weird noises and whamy bar extravaganzas. was it a conscious process and are you still working on creating more. I ju...
