The best explanations you're doing to get will be from proper theory books, i doubt there's anything out there that's guitar specific and really good. Get some theory books and read about counterpoint and how different intervals sound. That's what it's all about really, you kinda have to do the rest...

Best advice is to get down to a guitar store near you that has one in stock and play the hell out of it! I've never played one but have read a review in a popular UK guitar magazine and they gave it a good review. They said it was nothing amazing, but for (how much, $350?) what can you say? To me th...

Lo-pro or Edge (not edge-pro). Either of those will suit you down to the ground, but unfortunately all Ibanez guitars built after 2003 will have the new edge-pro design. The edge-pro doesn't have locking studs, Ibanez have cut the costs (well they've saved about $1) and now use inferior studs on the...

Try a forum search because this question and similar others are asked SO many times every day. The Jem555 is ok, although the trem isn't very good. It's better than the old Lo-trs, but it's nowhere near as good as a lo-pro, edge, or edge-pro. If you use the trem a lot, i.e. pull ups, dives, then you...

drake i think the photo of Vai with a 555 is actually a photo of him with 'Flo' when Flo had a 555 (half-vine) neck, the neck (like on Evo) has changed a few times. If you REALLY want a 555 then buy one. But a Prestige RG would be a much better guitar like an RG2550 or even a RG1550. If you bought a...

OOohhh lol Never noticed that before! It's always the simplest scales you seem to overlook :S

Does anyone else find themselves always improvising/Jamming in only a couple of favorite keys? I can never get out of DMaj or Dmin/Harmonic minor and their relative modes :(

'Easiest' (ha lol) Vai songs in my opinion: Warm Regards Die to Live Hand on Heart Sisters Liberty/Frank (Frank will be easier if you're good with your whammy bar, Liberty if you're not phased by the fast outro runs at the end) In all honesty though, there isn't a single Vai song in my opinion which...

It's just practise. It's absolutely by no means impossible to play it cleanly without a MIDI pickup or smiliar tone to the recording. You just have to practise like with just about everything else that's relatively difficult on guitar lol

If you use the trem a lot then you may not like the 555, it will go out of tune more than a Lo-pro that is on a Jem7v. Are Jems very expensive in Malaysia? They are here in the UK. I'm saving up for a Jem7vwh, it's taking a -long- time but i know it'll be worth it. Either try and save up for a Jem7v...

I always practise with my guitar over my left knee when i play sat down now (I'm right handed). Since learning classical it has indeed helped with electric. John Petrucci also plays sat down for proper "Classical Technique". Although it's perfectly possible to play just as well stood up i think if y...
