It really is a complicated question. So far I think everyone is right. You need to have musical ability and have some technique. However, to prove just to the average nonplayer that you play the guitar all you need to really do is a have a guitar. I have a friend that can't play for crap. He'll play...

I was reminded of that video when I started reading this thread. Paco is the man on fingerpicking.

Someone told me one time that if you lay on the floor and sing it forces you to sing from your diaphram. I don't know if there's any truth in that though.

A strat with a locking tremolo huh. That just may be the most perfect creation that I've ever seen.

I know what you guys mean. There are some really complicated topics discussed by a lot of guys in the forums. Quite a few times I don't really know exactly what they're talking about. I find if I keep my scales and mode shapes fresh on my mind then I can keep things relatively simple in my mind. But...

Yeah, I agree with that. It's like when you go and write the music you do it freely. All of your knowledge is automatic when your flowing with inspiration. So I wonder why would anyone want to limit their selves with knowledge when the moments of inspiration come basically the same as if you don't k...

No learn attitude

I've always been into learning things like chords and scales and music theory. However, I have friends that just play by feel and stuff like that. For the longest time we've always just jammed and accepted the fact that we do things differently. When I write music I don't really think about the musi...

Yeah, I'm gonna wait for it to be released over here. I've got a Guitar Center about 10 minutes away. I would like to play songs from that whole CD so the book would be cool. But if anyones got Freak Show Excess I wanna do that one first.

Favorite chord progression

I downloaded the demo of band in a box today. I was planning on getting into some serious jamming and improvising now because this thing is like a million backing tracks all in one. Here's what I want to start. Everyone should put they're favorite chord progression they like to jam over and the scal...

Freak Show Excess Tab Search

Did anyone ever finish transcribing this song. If there's ever a full version of the tab then I promised myself that I would take a crack at it.

I've thought about stuff like this before too. My only real suggestion would be that you watch who you start bands with and write with. I'm in an instrumental band so its not as big of a deal as groups with lyrics and such. We just say that the band wrote the song. If the group ever falls apart I ju...
