Amen!

PS: I`ve personally witnessed Scott Henderson playing cheapo strat through a solidstate practice amp and he sounded still amazing.

Nope. They just try to cash in with the Illuminati thing that`s currently popular with the "Angels and Demons" movie/book.

Piano Reductions, vol.2

Any news on Piano reductions, vol.2? Correct me if I`m wrong but I remember reading somewhere on this board that it`s already in the works.

Re: To focus on a specific playing style or not?

I feel that it`s good if you have checked out many musical styles. BUT I also feel that it`s natural for guitar player to gravitate towards certain styles that feel natural for you. I studied and teached guitar for years and therefore I had to play everything from deathmetal to country. I`m not sayi...

Re: Yngwie Unplugged!

The concept of the album is that you take Yngwie`s ballads, orchestra and choir (or some samplebased orchestration program) and put an acoustic guitar in the hands of the maestro and see what happens. As you might guess, the album is filled with Yngwie`s famous nylonstring tone (yes, that overcompre...

Re: Distortion Pedals..whats your fave?

I`ve always liked the character of distortion in Tubescreamers but I`ve never liked the compression and the lowcut character of them (the cut is at about 200hz). I`ve tried the original, I`ve tried the reissues, I`ve tried the Keeley modded and I`ve tried a good bunch of clones but nothing struck me...

I`d rather heat that Steve was working on some new material... But whatever. He does what he thinks is best.

I forgot about this project! Hmm... sounds promising but then again: this is just a short clip.

This can turn out really good or an abysmal disappointment.

Re: What amps does everyone have?

I have El Monarca 18/20W combo hand built by Monster Amps. Here`s the specs http://www.monsteramps.fi/site/?lan=3&page_id=62" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and some other info.

I play mostly jazz and funk but have my roots in rock.

Re: Mesa TriAxis

Triaxes+cab+guitar=ROCK? That would rock for sure but it wouldn`t cut anything else. My friend had a Triaxis rig. He bought it when he was into rock/metal. Then his musical tastes and playing started to evolve towards more jazzy and fusionesque realms. When we started a fusion band he had to admit ...

Re: What is some of Vai's most bluesy songs?

If you listen closely to the chord action happening on the keyboard parts of many tracks, you'll realize that it's pretty "jazzy" considering the context. You`re right about those chord progressions: some of them are quite modern-jazz-fusionesque (but not traditional jazz). Occasionally some of Ste...

Re: Too much string noise, crap guitar the problem?

I once had the privilege to witness Scott Henderson play a cheap strat copy through a cheap solidstate amp and he sounded damn good. That convinced me for the rest of my life that there is more to playing guitar than superior gear. I`d suggest that you`ll check out the set up of the guitar you have ...

Z. Vex builds quite imaginative effects along with more traditional stomp boxes. Some of their effects are pretty hard to describe as "a wah", "a fuzz" or "a tremolo" `cos many of them are crossbreeds with different effects. http://zvex.com/effects.html PS: Check out the Theremin-like controls on th...
