I would still love to hear an equal collaboration between Vai and Prince. I think that would really marry the Prince school of funk with the Vai, can play anything school. I'd love to hear Steve collaborate with Tom Waits or Ani DiFranco. To place anyone of these artist with someone completely diffe...

good post. I see what you are saying, there was a big shift once the 'shredding 80's' gave way. I remember so many of those guys going to Strats-doing bluesier music and to anything other than a 'Shred' guitar. I personally want a guitar with a locking trem. I like having the option and there are ce...

No, that's partially right. The weight wasn't 5 lbs, most guitars weigh about 8lbs! The very very first Floyds were hand made, cut, ect. They also didn't have the trusty old fine tuners. I had one a lifetime ago. I traded a Gibson guitar for a guitar that was in pieces, because it had the Floyd. Bac...

Ryan, Improvisation is alot like speaking. In fact that has always been something Steve Vai himself has recommended from very early on, sing melodies and play them. Jam to anything and everything. Tv, movies, cds, ect. I had/have the best time just getting together with people and just play blues. J...

This is something maybe Steve should consider in the future. I don't agree with the pricing on the Charvel's EVH was selling on eBay, but the idea is incredible. A musician like Steve could do something along the same lines and play a special Ibanez Jem and then sell them for his charity. In the cas...

i wudnt mind finding the chords for it either, but if u find them urself wont it be much more satisfying? then u can tell me :D Exactly, put the work in JS and you WILL get it, I know you can do it. Break it all down. Play out the chords you do know, work your way to the end, skip chords you can't ...

Excuse me, but if it's a 'short, easy song with only chords...' then why can't you just spend the time yourself and just learn it??? Instead of spending all this time looking or asking and waiting for someone to supply you with the tab, you could have just put in the time learning the song. That's n...

I've always said it's about the 'Quality' of your practice and not 'Quantity'. If you only have an hour or two, you can arrange that time to be very productive and spent a lot better than someone playing for 7 hours and no direction. If you take the totality of your musicianship and work hard at dev...

guitar isn't a competition, play because you love it, and the technique will come. I agree, there is nothing wrong with setting goals for yourself. Even setting really high goals and work hard at achieving them. But, you always have to work within your own abilities, or just beyond them. If you wer...

It's VERY important that you slacken the strings, or take them off so that there's no tension in them. If you leave them on normally then the tension could snap the neck because of the air pressure. Also, see if you can get away with taking the guitar on as carry on and sticking it in the luggage r...
