I first heard about Steve in 1993. November 1993, from the following two magazines. Blimey - I remember buying both those magazines, I had that first one on my wall for a long time :D I first heard of Vai after listening to Surfing with the Alien; I was blown away by Satriani and started reading mo...

AFAIK, none of them played guitar, though.
Paganini's second instrument was guitar. Some of his guitar pieces make modern day 'shredding' look like warm up exercises!

Don't know of a place online, but almost all music shops sell it. It's called Manuscript Paper. You can usually buy bound books of it (I use these as musical notebooks) but you can also buy pages big enough for a whole orchestra score. Now that I think about it you can also get A3 pads with the stav...

The God Eaters ! Do you mean Kill the Guy With The Ball?? The God Eaters has no whammy IIRC; it's all straight notes, not even any bending. I'd agree if you really meant KTGWTB, it's incredibly tricky to play accurately  ps - Nice nickname winston :D "I hate purity, I hate goodness, I want...

I think (but I can't be sure) that's it to do with strength. If the body was one piece there would be a considerable risk of the timber warping which would make the tuning really unstable. By having two or more pieces glued together you're increasing the directional strength of the wood so it should...

Will you ever play a concerto for classical guitar? The answer was: I see myself doing a lot of different things in the future but this is not one of them. It makes sense I think - imagine if Julian Bream or John Williams suddenly decided to release Passion & Warfare! (On Deutsche Gramaphone!!) "An...

He'd probably fail miserably in the classical discipline of playing the same tedious notes a million times until some idiot thinks they sound just right Erm, isn't that exactly the same as in the genre Steve plays in now, except this time 'some idiot' is Steve Vai? Steve doesn't just whack a bunch ...

when you use the whammy bar with lots of force it will make a low thumping sound from where it goes back in place. this sound finds its way to your pickups and out your amp. to stop this, all you do is shove something in your back cavity. Not only that, but on some guitars you can hear a resonance ...

Play.com are listing it as 'Out Now' but 'Awaiting Stock' - I pre-ordered it in December so if it arrives in the next day or so I'll let you know.
