I've got a Boss CH-1 which is very subtle. I think Ritchie Kotzen uses this one.

The finest distortion I've ever heard from a pedal is the MI Audio Tube Zone.

Re: Goin Crazy tab

Hey guys. I've looked everywhere for a tab to Goin' Crazy - David Lee Roth. Can't find one anywhere. I've tried writing it out myself, but can't get past the first riff. I've searched through this site, and couldn't find mention of it either. Can anyone give me a hand? :) You can now get the David ...

Great topic here, guys.

I really like his early Flexable tone. His tone on Natural Born Boy is my personal favourite Vai tone. It's so hard for me to describe...... It's very raw sounding and expressive and it sounds to me like that song was recorded with a very loud amp in a room!

With regards to outside playing, I once asked Dave Fiuczynski how he does this and he replied: check out impressions by john cotrane. when playing in 4 bar phrases over a Dm7 chord play 2 bars in Dm, then 2 bars out of the key in Ebm or C#m or Fm or Abm, then resolve back to Dm at the beginning of t...

For picks I use Dunlop 500 .96mm which I have sharpened. I pick using the side of the pick and I found that Tortex picks have too much friction.

I got a Vai pick once at an Ultra Zone show, it was very thin, perhaps a medium. Would this be the same guage as the Jewel Box picks?

How does he play so fast with something so thin.....?

I had a GNX 4. It had good sounds but i felt that it required a lot of tweaking to get it sounding to my liking. I actually was quite unhappy with it and took it back and got a Behringer X V-Amp instead which I really like. It's much easier to use and it has very cool tone.

Isn't the distortion from a DS-1 kinda weak to use as your main distortion?

Hehe, I wasn't at the show but this IS getting stupid. I feel sorry for Yngwie. He gets a hard time from people but I think that he's a great guitarist and I'm sure that Vai and Satch do too, otherwise they wouldn't have picked him. I would love to see Yngwie and Vai jamming live. The thing that mak...

Yamaha Guitars

Hello guys! Sorry to be hugely off topic but I need some advice! I was thinking of getting the Yamaha Mike Stern 1151MS guitar. I have a Marshall 15watt transistor practice amp, which I love. I currently am playing a Parker Fly Hardtail. I would be extremely grateful for any advice from anyone that ...
