Re: A question to Steve
Perhaps Steve was implying a phenomenon illustrated in many fMRI brain studies of experts and non-experts performing complex motor tasks. When you compare how much of the brain's cortex is activated when an non-skilled person and a skilled person perform the same task (some studies were actually pe...

Re: EVH 5150 III 1x12 Combo thoughts....
I've got an original 5150 and 4X12 cab, Bryceybhoy, and its the best amp I've ever heard. I once played around with a combo version and that was amazing too, although it didn't move as much air...perfect for the bedroom player. Its impossible to get a duff sound out of it.

Re: New album?
no blu-ray version of "stillness in motion" ? why ?? I've heard tha blu-ray has been a bit of a flop in terms of sales and I have to admit I don't buy them anymore in favour of DVD. Perhaps its down to 'new format-fatigue', blu-ray being more expensive, or perhaps the additional resolution of blu-r...

Re: What happened to the board?
There has to be something to talk about first. There hasn't been anything new to discuss in quite a while. I'm looking forward to the new DVD but since I haven't seen it yet......<silence>

Re: A Seven Note Motif That Appears Often in Steve Vai's Mus
'Answers' (which he played at every gig Id attended up until that point after which is disappeared for the set list) He stopped playing Answers after you got me to ask him why he played it at every gig. Yeah, I should've kept my big mouth shut. I'm sure you must asked rudely or aggressively or whil...

Re: hand muscles
Have you seen how high Steve lifts his fingers off the fretboard? You could park a car under his riffing fingers! Compare that with Tony MacAlpine who's fingers you can barely see being lifted. I doubt very much it's a big issue so just practise as much as you can and you'll improve.

Re: A Seven Note Motif That Appears Often in Steve Vai's Mus
It's my most favourite riff of Steve's ( if you're referring to the 7/8 motif). I asked Steve about it, and 'Answers' (which he played at every gig Id attended up until that point after which is disappeared for the set list) during an EVO once and he said it was just a very melodic riff that seems ...

Re: Free Ticket Manchester, 7th Dec 2012
To be less general - I've gotten the sense from Bill's posts (from even way back when there used to be a Vai list and he went by a non-internet-only moniker) that he always wished Vai continued to be the thing he (sv) was when he (sv) put out the music he (bbb) enjoyed. And it's been a growing rift...

Re: Free Ticket Manchester, 7th Dec 2012
To tell you the truth, I couldn't get excited enough to make the effort to go after a long day at work, a drive over the hills in the rain and darkness and then 20 hour journey to Burma (where I am sweltering as I write) the following day. I found the last album 'mixed' at best and I just feel that...

What is the track?
I've been going mad trying to remember a track from a metal band's CD but I can't remember what its called! Perhaps someone can help? All I can remember is its a piece consisting of close mic'd spoken 'poem', about 30 seconds long and the only bit of it I can remember (and perhaps incorrectly) is "...
