Re: Twitter | stevevai: With Fire and Pia at the University of C

LOL ?

My cousin from Denver lasted one semester at Boulder,
then wound up downtown at DU, not duh or dui, but D.U.

He is a smart kid, but his ethics and will were apparently stronger than many of the party-types at Boulder.

I guess Boulder is more for someone like me?

Re: "Live In Minneapolis: Where The WIld Things Are" DVD REVIEWS

Well I am glad you got the DVD, as you must be a fan. I am really surprised you think it is "terrible"? Cd also? Also, I am curious what you mean and about which concept the violins do not at all fit? This new concept of whose? Last I checked, The Audience is Listening (live) is lead guitar,...

Re: "Live In Minneapolis: Where The WIld Things Are" DVD REVIEWS

I am compelled to comment on above: In my hearty opinion, Bryan Beller and Jeremy Colson TOTALLY gelled. When the hell have we ever heard a bass/drum duet/solo before, let alone at the end of the sickest song since Kill the Guy with the Ball??!! And while Dave may be somewhat of a 'session musician'...

Wow Samuele, thanks for pulling the strings of so many similar thoughts of my own! In fact I think you saved me a bunch of typing!! : D But I'll add this: The intro into Now We run is just so choice! Those flams as Jeremy comes down the high toms is awesome! :peace I love the building energy and slo...

Re: Learning drums - without playing them?

As a monkey-trained drummer, I'd like to suggest in some sort of order: Decide on the feel for your hi-hat or ride. Is it fast? Slow? Straight 1/8 or 1/4 notes or does it have a particular rhythmic pattern? Do you imagine a fast hihat part played with both hands or just a single sticking... Is your ...

Re: "Live In Minneapolis: Where The WIld Things Are" DVD REVIEWS

Well as everyone says, this is an amazing release. I was at the EVO show in Vancouver three days prior to the filming, so it has been super-cool to re-live the show (vicariously). It was pretty exciting at the soundcheck, I could really tell this band had pulled together. It was a long soundcheck, a...

Re: "Live In Minneapolis: Where The WIld Things Are" DVD REVIEWS

Today, I am glad to say I broke down and ordered the DVD/CD combo, mostly for the immediate fix! That is a must have fix of audio now!! And I got it!! For the price of it all, it is totally worth it. 8) I made it to Whispering a Prayer by now and it is super awesome!!! The whole recording is so frea...

Re: TOUCHING TONGUES IS MY NEW FAV SONG!

Hi all, Just wanted to say how much I like the song too, and Devin's other work in SYL and DTB! But my real post is about this: In 2000 I believe it was, at the Vancouver BC Festival of Light fireworks competition Italy competed (different nations each year). It takes place downtown over the large o...

Re: New Steve Vai DVD Release Date?

Just want to pipe up here too-- about my excitement to get this DVD in August!!! I was at the EVO- Vancouver,BC show which was the last gig (2 days) before the shoot. I just want to let you all know how nearly impeccable that performance was. I think the tour at that point had accumulated such a mas...

Re: [Blog Posting]Recording DVD Commentary

Aha! Shows , plural! :) "We're planning a Blu-Ray version as well as a regular DVD version. The shows were shot in 720p HD. Mikey" Makes me think there is more material to add than the Minn. show, but I am merely speculating. Let me just say that the intro to when Vai first came out on stage haunts ...

Re: Can this be true???

I totally believe such transcription/learning is true.
The level of details I have seen at soundcheck is very impressive.

What I mean is, Steve may occasionally exaggerate or be forgetful, but I think he is an undeniably honest person.
