Re: The new Legacy

Renge, is it true the master volume doesn't change the sound of the amp? Good review ,anyway congratulations I can't really say for certain to be honest with you. I'm not at liberty to turn the thing up to a respectable level so i have no idea what it sounds like really cranked. Heaven knows I'd lo...

Re: What amps does everyone have?

I don't own an amp but I am thinking about buying this little jem. 5 Watt. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b289/fretpick/ht5head-lg1.jpg I've got the Blackstar HT-DUAL in my rig and that thing is killer. I've heard wonderful things about this amp, and ISF feature is truly awesome. Don't think abo...

Re: What amps does everyone have?

I have a Carvin Legacy II 212 Combo and a Mesa/Boogie Stiletto Ace 212 combo. Both of which rock my socks off on a regular basis. I play Rock, metal, jazz, funk, and Vai =)

Re: When will we HEAR the Legacy II???

Well, I've got one, and I'm almost done setting up my studio so as soon as I get a chance I'll hook you all up with some samples.

Re: New Carvin catalog

Well I bought it. It it's awesome but you reallllly have to pay attention using this amp, and it wound up not replacing my stiletto, but using a dual amp set up I've finally found the tone I was hearing in my head. Running them both into the same cab made all the difference in the world. It's a weir...

Re: What Tubes does Vai use?

The Legacy is fixed bias and you dont have to bias pre-amp tubes. You can swap them out all you want, the only requirement is to power the amp off. I´m not talking about Pre-amp tubes ;). And fixed BIAS doesn´t work, you NEED to adjust the BIAS when you change the power tubes, fixed BIAS won´t make...

Re: The new Legacy

I've got one and I dig it a lot. The boost channel isn't much of a crunch sound though, at least not at lower volumes. The back has a 25-50-100 switch on the 212 combo which is what I've got, and it's very handy. I keep it on 25 because I'm in the barracks in the marine corps so I can't get super ca...

Re: New Jem? -Forget it - I say re-issue Ibanez Jem 77BFP

I have a BFP and I love it to death. I've kept all the original parts for it as well, but I did change out pickups and knobs for evolutions and black metal knobs for practical reasons. The toggle switch crapped out as well, so I kept the old one and put in a stock fender one which is actually much m...

Re: 16 January 2009: Alien Guitar Secrets - Fullerton, CA

Mikey, I drove up from Camp Pendleton because I'm stationed down in Oceanside with the Marines. I thought it was a fantastic work shop. I've studied from George Lynch through his online guitar dojo and gotten a lot of good things from that, but the way Steve went about teaching to me seemed to be mu...

Re: A New Jem????

I wish all musicians were born blind. Just take the thing off if you don't like it. It's how it plays and how it sounds. I play a JEM77BFP and I love it, but it aged GREEN, didn't stay blue. Sucks, but it's STILL an awesome guitar. Being a guitarist is about more than the identity that it's iconogra...

Re: A New Jem????

Honestly I've wanted one of these for a long time. I'm glad they've finally made one. Now i can have a rhythm guitar that I can really dedicate to that purpose, slightly higher action, different pick ups - breeds instead of the evolutions, a heavier gague of strings if i want to do some down tuning....

Re: New Carvin catalog

I've been doing alot of amp research lately. I've had some unique issues with Boogie lately, I may just chuck my stiletto if this thing turns out to be as good as Vai's gear usually is. I'll have to check it out though... I'd like to bring my amp down there to the factory here in san diego and A-B t...

Re: Thd hotplate

I guess thats possible. Like I said, I know nothing about electricity. I'm a helicopter mechanic lol But something about that thing just doesn't seem quite right too me. I know thats a really bad excuse but until I know how that thing works, I'm not putting my stiletto in the mix with it again. I gu...
