Re: Vai v.s Friedman v.s Yanni v.s Kitaro

They both are so great to an extent that they make you feel that Vai and Friedman are really inferior to Yanni and Kitaro. Am not saying that they aint good.. we all know how vai and friedman are good.. but when you listen to Yanni or Kitaro or hear them, you feel that there's a very huge space or ...

You're right, that is a faulty analogy. I went off on a tangent there because I have read so many posts/letters by people who draw conclusions about an individual's talent level using "writing their own music" as the primary measuring stick. I was just genuinely curios to see if people really thoug...

thats a faulty analogy prof. musicians and etc actually understand music, they can read and WRITE. Although they "only" perform. They understand the theory and can write as well. There is a huge difference between reading music and.....being told to sing words in something somewhat close to in key t...

awesome man
I saw satch over the summer
he's so much fun to watch
did he play hands in air?
you know whats awesome about him
he plays a huge variety of different scales and chords
it would take an idiot to say that he plays only pentatonic scales

I think Blink-182 was a tremendously talented band. First off, no one can touch Travis' drumming because it is completely ridiculous. Second of all, they became polished artists over time. They had OVER A DOZEN hit songs in their career. If they weren't talented, they might have gotten lucky and ha...

To be honest I'd consider Zappa his true teacher (teaching doesn't just mean guitar playing ya know). He surpassed Satriani a while ago. And he didn't attend berklee for that long. Zappa challenged Steve in very many ways and it helped him become an incredible musician and composer. thats subjectiv...
