Re: FLO III

I just saw Steve at a master class.. And FLO III didn't appear to be backstopped as far as I could tell.

Anyone know what single coil pickup he has installed beside the sustainer?

Re: Eric Johnson & The Korg MR2000S

yeah, the article was quite a good read.. but this had me wondering.. As we mentioned, the human hearing range tops out at about 20 kHz, and the Nyquist theorem shows that we need to sample at slightly faster than double that. This is how CDs ended up using 44.1 kHz as their sampling frequency. It ...

Re: Attenuators

This whole conversation is pretty silly really.......... I wonder if on the Ferrari forum people discuss mods to make their cars go slower, be more tractable round town, soften the ride, raise the suspension to make it easier to get in and out or disguises to make it less noticable when driving thr...

Re: Alien Guitar Secrets Masterclass FAQ

Hey Mikey, really looking forward to the Calgary masterclass (flying out just for it!). I called in my order and they said there was no physical ticket, they'd just have my name at the door -- which sounds a little weird. Is this right? Calgary's my home town, let me know if you want any restaurant ...

Re: Attenuators

Like I said, it varies drastically amp-to-amp. Perhaps your 5150 sounds more or less the same at 7 or at 2. Most tube amps don't. Don't assume that because the tonal differences at high and low volumes for your amplifier indicate that the tonal differences for other amps will be similarly small. My ...

Re: Attenuators

hmm bbb you say that with the 5150 there is no difference in tone, when it is turned up, only volume? I couldn't tell you for sure because hearing is more than just sound waves in your ears, its about perception as well. Also, the ear doesn't respond in a linear fashion to sound volume but has very...

That acoustic is gorgeous. If the current Euphoria was available in that colour I'd likely buy one. Loud electric guitars is one thing, but a green acoustic is just not for me. I like the shirt he's wearing there. I will have to look for a similar one. If anyone knows where SSV gets all his cool clo...

Permission to use a Vai song?

Hi, I'm a 20 year old Computer Engineering student and a huge Vai fan. To put myself through university I've written two books on making websites. I'm currently revising the first book (the basics, demos with a cheesy little personal homepage) and I'd like to include a little demo of my guitar playi...

I was an entrant.. My name's Dave Lindsay. At the time I was a MUCH worse player than I am now, I think if I got another shot at it I might actually have a chance ;) I'm only 18, and there are lots of professional players who entered that so I was kinda doomed from the start. Bob Oakman is a poster ...

One of my brother's co-workers in Japan saw it. He said it did not sound like typical Vai (as he didn't write it) and was a little "unpleasant" at first but grew on him. My girlfriend is also a music major at the University of Calgary and they were talking about the evolution of music. Her prof for ...
