Just play fast. Whatever you play in whatever mode... if you play it faster, it will sound better. So... if you are soloing in Lydian and it does not sound good... well, you're just not playing fast enough! :P if you're playing fast it doesn't matte what scale you're in. just shred over your fretbo...

I never tried the 555. I've got a Jem7vWH and a RG.
Jem7v is just a perfect guitar, guess the 555 can't reach that, but I don't wanna judge without trying.

actually speed is a good thing for playing guitar. but it depends on what you do, how fast you should go. see, driving your car by 200 km/h is way too fast when you want to see the landscape around. nevertheless speed can be really exciting. so, it really depends on what you want to say, on the feel...

my first guitar was an ibanez. i got used to ibanez frets and necks. the others where ibanez too. once tried jackson, but i didn't like the feeling while sliding with my hand over the neck. but three reasons for ibanez: 1. good sound (if you don't like the sound you can change pickup) 2. perfectly s...

actually you sound like wanting an Ibanez Jem. I got the Jem 7V-WH and she's pretty cool. good pickups. nice handling. and just beautiful. actually i love her sound too. good tremolo, allows you to do almost anything you want to... even though she could have more sustain. if you'd like it cheaper, t...

Know your major and minor scales up and down the neck, all the shapes too, like the back of your hand! knowing shapes is quite helpful... if you know the shapes you know everything... other scale other starting point but same shape. for me, first thing i learned was fingerpicking (classical guitar)...

i couldn't handle alternate picking for quite a while... but you speed up with alternate picking. and music sounds more erm... "flowing" a little more legato.
but i would not say one style is better than another... they all come together...serious, alternate and sweep.
