Re: So I'm sorry to say, but my Ibanez has made me hate trem

Ok, so...
I blocked off the trem and taped the claw into place.
And I'm just going to play it like that from now on.
I might get daring and try to fix the screw holes using one of the suggested methods at a later date...
But for now, and for my purposes, this works just fine...

Re: So I'm sorry to say, but my Ibanez has made me hate trem

Knowing me, as simple as that sounds, I'd still eff it up.

And this really doesn't sound stable enough to be holding that much tension...

Unless you're talking about using some kind of miracle-glue...

Re: So I'm sorry to say, but my Ibanez has made me hate trem

It's a 2005 RG4EX Quilted Maple top. Basswood body. I've had the thing since my junior year of highschool. But this is just ridiculous. And honestly, if I was going to try and repair it, I would rather have someone else do it. I'm really unfamiliar with even the most basic woodworking. And the major...

So I'm sorry to say, but my Ibanez has made me hate trems...

This retarded piece of crap is the most infuriating thing I have ever encountered. I can honestly say I hate trems now. This most recent time changing strings after having replaced a pickup, I was horrified to find that the screws for the spring claw had stripped out of the wood. WTF?! As such, this...

The undertaking

I am about to begin a project. This project will most likely not be finished until late next year, simply because of money issues. Here's the concept: Take a Squier Classic Vibe and turn it into something sexy. =) Conceptual image of desired final result: http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e107/fretb...

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

UPDATE OF DOOM!!!: I decided to get the Squier Deluxe SSS strat. Daphne Blue. And I'll do the same dealy to it I had planned initially for the red one. Locking tuners and a new neck. Jeries, do you know, though, if that neck's tuner holes will need to be adjusted to fit those tuners? The ones from A...

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

Ok. Well, I'm already happy, knowing that I have a resource for low-priced, decent quality parts for my guitars. That makes me very, very happy. Thank you, man, for bringing such a resource to my attention. I'll update soon with pics and maybe even a link to a vid. =) I can't wait for this to come i...

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

I'm sure his stuff is good.
Which is why I'm even going to bother with the $15 bridge.
And if I don't like it, I can always switch back to the stock bridge.
btw, are his necks satin finished or gloss?
Just curious.

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

His Wilkinson's a 6-screw, otherwise I would. The Squiers are 2 post fulcrum bridges. Therefore, the Wilkinson I showed you should just drop right in, unless I decided I wanted it floating, which I don't. No routing necessary. But I'm gonna go with the 2-post one he has for $15. Who knows? It might ...

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

More like $123 for the bridge I'm talking about.

The one he has it nifty. I might just order me one of them, too.
At $15, I can afford to at least try it out. =)

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

The most recent Fender ones have an adjustment screw in the back to set the tension on the trem arm, i.e., how loose it is, a la Ibanez. I was just wondering if that feature was included on the Squier trems. If not, I'm sure I could easily replace the trem with a Wilkinson VG300 or something like it...

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

I was looking into those. But I think I'm just gonna go with whatever that one guy had. I'll probably order the tuners with it and see if he'll install them for me for whatever cost. And here's my pickup set for this guitar: N- Dimarzio Cruiser Bridge M- Dimarzio Fast Track 1 B- Dimarzio Chopper Tha...

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

No, I didn't call him. If you could, that would be great. Just to check and see what he has in that particular category. Thanks man. You're a life saver. I can't wait! I'm getting a new strat! Woo!!! Single coil heaven!!!! Ok. I'm done celebrating now. And Fretpick, I am, to the dismay of ...

Re: Maybe you guys could help me out here...

Ok. So I just went onto that site, and the guy doesn't carry any maple fretboard necks that aren't cut for a locking nut. So that was a tad disappointing.
Is there anywhere else I could get a good, thick replacement strat neck with a maple fretboard, without breaking the bank?
