quite a few of steve's guitars have been auctioned for charity over the years, or given to colleagues, and often appear for sale in the usual places. i doubt he's really in the market for just selling them though, and i DEFINITELY doubt any of them would be mint condition. i personally want one of s...

i once read a funny story about that monument. apparently, town officials from vilnius were asked why they built a monument to zappa, to which they replied: ''although there is no official link between our town and frank zappa, we're sure he would've visited had he not died (two years earlier)'' i r...

i doubt a tremsetter would help you in this situation, and they certainly aren't easy to come by. really. on a jem, or similar guitar, you don't particularly want the bridge to be flush with the body of the guitar. the jem is designed so that you can raise a note with the whammy to a fifth (i've act...

that'd make sense i suppose. speaking of scallops and prototypes, i REALLY want the scalloped Jem10th that i believe was in the ibanez catalogue of the time. also, i really want the 777LNG that Mace Baily is pictured with on Jemsite, with the semi-rounded pickguard. hell, i just want any Jems i can ...

the simple fact is, vai made that record because he wanted to. in a number of comments about it, he's semi-apologetically said that it's not easy to get into, or conventional. the reason he hasn't gone deep into jazz, blues, or acoustic work is that he has little desire to do so. it's a shame that y...

look for photos on this board from the Aching Hunger shows in Holland. probably in the review section or photo gallery section. the only guitars he used for both shows were: Flo, a Jem7VSBL (he presented this to Tom Trapp) and a Jem7DBK. on the subject of of UV's though, a UVMC reissue would have li...

it's unlikely, because he'd need to take a few backups with him, and he couldn't really replace any current touring jems with a UVs. as far as i'm aware, he only took the triple on the G3 tour, and he had an excuse not to take back-ups (there aren't any!). logistically speaking, it would be more eff...

it's all done with a sustainer, set to the harmonic mode for forced-feedback. for most of it, the guitar is essentially playing itself. not really possible with a non-equipped guitar, unless your neighbours don't mind near-apocalyptic levels of volume. if you're unfamiliar with how a sustainer works...
