American brand of comedy? Personally, I thought it was somewhere between Lee Evans and Norman Wisdom in style! When you say he carries on the 'act' afterwards, how about the possibility that he's just an eccentric bloke full stop? It's not necessarily an act, on the contrary, you couldn't keep up a...

Ha, thanks for that - I was trying to remember what his silly little line was.

I think it helps if, like me, you're a fan of surreal humour. I really 'got it', perhaps some people didn't.

What were the words to that song about a long lost son?!

Support act - Zach

I'm surprised to see a fair amount of Zach bashing in the review threads. I can't help feeling some have overlooked his playing ability. Maybe the comedy element wasn't for some (personally I loved it) BUT the guy could play and then some. A nice guy, made the crowd laugh, and played some excellent ...

The 'In session with Steve Vai' book and CD is the bets one if you're after good backing tracks of some of his most popular songs, including FTLOG and Juice. Some of the vamp things available are not complete songs.

The best part of Deep down into the pain on the DVD is the fella in the front row doing a rock hand and pulling a hilarious face!!

the lovely Anne Marie started off FTLOG (it actually gave me shivers). Hats off to the New Band... I could honest watch an entire show of just the Violinists. , You're not wrong, the lovely Ann Marie indeed! I was thinking the exact same thing - I forgot to mention the vilionists in my post. They w...

Where do you start? Absolutely sensational. The support act was absolutely hilarious . Rarely have I been so entertained, an extremely funny guy and boy could he play!! Steve was incredible, the sound mix was fantastic - last time at the royal centre I was sat in almost the exact same place and the ...

Yeah I was at the last royal concert hall show too, couldn't remember what time it finished. Does anyone know what the approximate run-times for the Manchester show were?

The entire western tempered scale system is in itself a compromise in "true pitch" (thank you Pythagoras!) and the guitar is notoriously difficult to keep in tune...so it's not just Vai. It's potentially all of us...(check the next performance of your local symphony orchestra for further proof...) ...

Nottingham show

Wonder if someone could give me an idea for the rough timings at the show tomorrow night? I guess the band have an itinerary which includes timings? I need to get the bus out of nottingham at 11.20pm (bus station is very short walk), just hoping I won't miss anything. Cheers.

athen there are lots very good but boring like Micheal Angelo, John Petrucci Ouch, I think it is a huge disservice to an innovator and metal legend like JP to lump him in with a numpty like Batio!! Thanks for the review guys, looking forward to seeing him on saturday, cool setlist, something simila...

RAI, there is *definitely* some Vai there to my ears. I also think the solo on 'Constant Motion' sounds very Satch inspired - the tapping and whammy squeals. I think the G3 experience is very evident - and as you say, that can't be a bad thing!
